"I have hired Jesse for several jobs over past couple years, hes always on time, friendly and honest about the work needing to be done to get the result I want, as well as being knowledgeable about possible hidden costs that may come up over the course of a project. I had gotten cheaper bids on some of the earlier projects but I learned a few years ago you get what you pay for and any issues or concerns I had on a project with Jesse he was quick to address them to my satisfaction. He's the first call I make for projects."

"We had our master bathroom fully remodeled and TruBuild Construction handled it from start to finish. Overall project went well. They communicated in timely fashion and was very considerate for any special requests or needs we had. Items modified include: Toilet Vessel sink Full wall mirror Floating Vanity Custom countertop Glass partition, walk in shower with niche Temp control shower and rainfall shower head Heated floors and towel rack Ceramic tile walls and floors Project did go longer than scheduled, mostly due to the switching of tile sub contractor staff half way through. Which is why the quality is rated a tad lower than the rest. But overall, we are pleased with the final product. As you can see from the before and after pictures, the bathroom has an improved relaxed feel to it now. It's truly my favorite space in the house to relax after a long day at work. I would use TruBuild again for any future construction projects and recommend them to others."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Yes, using certified lumber and engineered wood products for reduced environmental impact.

Joists do distribute their load to beams, but they don’t sit on top of the beams. Instead, home builders nail or screw the joists directly to the beams such that the end of the joist butts up against the edge of the beam. Beams can sit on other beams for support, but you’ll never see a joist sitting on top of a beam or another joist.

The best way to know if your beams still provide adequate support is to consult a structural engineer. Structural beams can crack and even sag over time but may still be structurally sound. Keep an eye out for signs of issues in your home, such as sagging floors or ceilings, major cracks in your ceiling and walls, or signs of water damage around a weight-bearing wall.

Warped wooden landscape timbers are the result of the wood taking in too much moisture and then drying out. Treated lumber is less likely to warp but may still be susceptible to changes due to moisture. You can reduce the risk of warping by treating the cut ends of your timbers with a product specifically made for waterproofing wood.

Living in a termite-infested home isn’t just annoying—it’s risky. These pests can quietly chew through wood, weakening your walls, floors, and even the structure of your house. On top of the safety concerns, there’s the financial stress of repairs, not to mention potential health issues from mold or allergens stirred up by termite activity.
