Yes, drywall can hold a 50-pound TV. However, when mounting a TV, you’ll either need to attach it to wall studs or use drywall anchors. If you use anchors, make sure to buy a type that can hold at least 50 pounds. Molly bolts, threaded anchors, and toggle bolts are all good options. For extra support, you can also install a wall mounting plate with the anchors.

Yes, you can mount a TV on a brick wall. This process may take a little more time and different tools, however. You’ll need to directly drill mounting holes into the bricks using a masonry drill and masonry bits instead of a regular power drill. Masonry drills have the power and design to drill into denser surfaces like brick. Use either plastic anchors or concrete screws to mount your TV. 

Mounting a TV on a brick wall is possible as a DIY project. You will use the same techniques you used for hanging a picture on a brick wall: drilling into the wall and inserting wall anchors. These anchors need to be large to support the weight of the TV wall bracket and the TV. You should drill into the brick instead of the mortar so you have enough support for the weight of the TV wall brackets and the TV. 

Fire and electronics typically don't mix, but that doesn't mean you can't mount your TV on a brick fireplace. However, you should proceed with caution. If you do not use your fireplace regularly, you can be assured that your TV will remain undamaged.
