"I was getting close to the date to move into a new condo, and the previous arrangements I had made to install of the PregoXP flooring in the entry, halls and kitchen fell through. Victor Lake came to the rescue with his outstanding customer service and craftsmanship. My projects seem to like to have some challenges—for this project, the product that had been ordered from another vendor was damaged. With Victor’s commitment to great customer service, this trial were quickly and easily resolved. He went above and beyond to complete the project in the time frame I needed. Moreover, I have beautiful floors thanks to his team of craftsmen. Then Victor brought in a true artist to install the backsplash in my kitchen. The quality of this craftsman contributed to the backsplash becoming the focal point in this room. These were small jobs, but the customer service detail provided by Victor Lake was outstanding."

Customers say: Terrific value

"We had a partial bathroom renovation involving flooring (tile), drywall, painting, and reconnecting plumbing. We were very happy with the quality of work and care taken throughout the entire job. We continue to rehire Chris White for other home projects."

"4 days after moving into our new townhome we dicovered a toilet flange had been leaking, for some time, and caused the subfloor below it to rot. We had to tear out some tiles, and install new subfloor. We had some tile left over from the original owner, and needed someone to install them. Talked to Jessie at Precision Tile, and fortunately he could come the next day. He did a great job of quickly installing backer board, thinset, Tile and grout at a fair price. Tile turned out great, and we were able to reset the toilet. Unfortunately the grout wasn't a perfect match with the old grout, but that was corrected with a grout colorant product. Overall very satisfied."

"They were wonderful in sticking to a constant schedule....they completed all work in only 8 days... removing old ballasts on ceiling, installing new recessed lights, removing outside wall sheetrock and insulation and replacing sheetrock/insulation on that wall and the ceiling...also some wall repair on the rest. They added some new electrical and also some new plumbing. At this time they also tore out some soffits and built new ones to fit current plan. They installed new cabinets and all new appliances. After the countertops were installed, they came back to hang a light fixture and under cabinet lights, hook up plumbing for faucet, dishwasher and garbage disposal. At this time they also installed the tile backsplash. We are extremely pleased with the results and the cost was very fair and reasonable. They also stayed right on the original estimate even though they had done some work to the job.

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes. You can tile over tile if the old tile is in good shape, but this will also create a thicker floor. As a result, you may have to remove and readjust baseboards and other room trimmings and potentially even raise door heights to work with the higher floors. In most projects, it’s best to remove the old tile before installing a new tile floor.

It’s easiest to start from an edge as it gives you a straight line. A problem may arise if your edge doesn’t line up perfectly, in which case it’s best to start from the center. Some think that starting tile from the center adds a focal point in the center of the hearth.

No, you don’t technically need a cement backer board for a wall tiling project, but not using it risks disastrous moisture damage. Cement is naturally water-resistant, whereas drywall soaks it in, which can lead to warping or mold growth. Always use a backer board treated with a waterproof membrane for bathrooms and other chronically damp areas to ensure complete tile shower waterproofing.

Thinset mortar is the best adhesive for ceramic tiles on concrete. It is easy to work with and has a slower dry time than mastic or epoxy mortars. This longer dry time gives the installer more time to adjust tiles, which is especially useful for DIYers who may not have tile installation experience. It can also be built up to help level any depressions or gaps in the concrete subfloor.

You can purchase natural stone tiles from your local home improvement store or stone distributor.

Simply put, natural stone flooring is a high-end style that outlasts its wood and carpet counterparts. After finding a style you love, a stone flooring company near you can help source and install them for a reliably clean look.
