"When Wayne came to give us an estimate, there was a crevice between the end of the garage floor and the driveway. Wayne said the crevice was caused by the salt from the cars eating away the cinder block foundation below the garage floor. The issue was fixed with concrete before the driveway installation. So not only did we get a new driveway, but we fixed a previously undiagnosed problem. In addition, the crew did a good job of cleaning up the street before they left the premises."

"I don’t find myself doing reviews very often. I have to tell you that I was very pleasantly surprised by the workmanship the attitude, efficiency and performance of the entire crew that came to my home to replace my driveway. I guess I was not expecting to have such stellar service From the group of guys but they were so in tune with what I had requested and needed and done exactly what I wanted. I had no choice but to give them a five star review and like I said I don’t do this very often. Thank you gentlemen for a job very well done and my neighbor feels the exact same way."

"They did a great job coating a weak area in my driveway near the sidewalk to the front door which should hold up for years to come. Other than a small area near my garage floor seem that didn't get freshly coated, Signature Seal Coating did a much better job than the company I used last time I sealed my drive."

"They came early in the day while I was at work. When I arrived home the driveway was beautiful! Very pleased with the job they did and would use them again. The driveway still looks as good as the day they did it!

"Blacktop Central is a company with which I have no beef. Curtains were drawn as the driveway crew is quite easy on the eyes. Blacktop Central arrived on the job in a timely fashion. The hard-working team tore out the asphalt driveway in front of my three car garage. They laid down a new base layer and put down asphalt all in one day. Blacktop Central even removed all of the old asphalt. At the end of the day, I had a beautiful new driveway at an affordable price. One year later, my driveway still looks brand new. Hats off to Blacktop Central. They are a five star company in my book."

"Due to a family emergency, my husband and I decided to sell our house this year. We asked Justin to come over and walk through the house with us and give his opinion on things that should be done before putting it up for sale. He gave us a reasonable quote, and let us decide what we wanted him to do, and what we thought we could tackle ourselves. He knew our goal, and wanted to make sure we got what we wanted and were satisfied. Justin and his crew painted the main living areas of the inside of the house (walls and ceiling), remodeled the main floor bathroom, fixed and repainted some siding around the house, and poured a cement apron and re-sealed the driveway. He was always in contact with us on the progress of the projects (as we had already moved out). If we had questions or concerns, he would respond quickly. As many times as we contacted him, he was always very nice and professional."

"Hoffman Weber resided our house in August, 2019 and we are very pleased with the outcome. Joe Wire was our sales contact who patiently worked with us as we made decisions during the planning stage. Joe is thoroughly professional, friendly, extremely detailed (you will know exactly what you owe before the final bill comes) and is a good listener. Joe and the office crew kept us apprised of materials delivery and dumpster install and removal. John did the installation. I was a little surprised to have a lone installer complete the entire job, but John did a great job. His workmanship is outstanding and any little thing I mentioned, he took care of. The property was totally cleaned up before he left and he finished the job within the original estimated time. We happily recommend Joe, John and Hoffman Weber Construction for your home-siding needs. M&V"

"Contractor showed up on time and analyzed the driveway. Determined that overlay would not stick well to existing surface due to number and content of sealings done previously. Provided a quote for replacing the driveway and resealing but indicated the driveway would likely last another 5 years and I should save my money on sealing and put it toward a new driveway in a few years. I can't recall the last time a company talked me out of spending money on something - I will definitely use them for the driveway when replacement time comes in a few years."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Regular sealing, crack filling, and professional inspections help extend pavement lifespan and prevent costly repairs.

The three most common types of asphalt are hot asphalt, MC cold mix, and UPM asphalt. Hot asphalt is used most often for paving and patching roadways while it’s hot and workable. MC cold mix asphalt cures more slowly than hot asphalt, but it can be used for temporary patches and repairs in low-traffic areas. UPM is also used cold, but it can be used as a longer-term fix, usable in almost any conditions at almost any temperature.

Yes, you can retrofit an existing driveway, but this usually involves cutting grooves into the driveway, installing the heating elements, then sealing them. While this is much less expensive than typical heated driveway systems, the final appearance could be diminished. Speak with a driveway paving company to confirm which design method is best for you.

Gravel is the cheapest way to extend a driveway. Gravel is an affordable, practical option that’s easy to install and perfect for DIY projects, helping you save on labor costs. It can be quickly spread and leveled to create extra driveway space without heavy preparation. While gravel doesn’t offer the same durability or finished look as concrete or asphalt, its low cost makes it ideal for budget-conscious homeowners who want a functional solution without overspending.

New asphalt typically needs 24 to 72 hours to dry before it can handle light foot traffic and careful driving. Although it may appear solid after a few days, the full curing process, where the asphalt reaches its peak strength, takes much longer—generally from 30 days to a year.

During this extended curing time, the surface remains relatively soft and can be damaged by heavy vehicles, sharp objects, or high temperatures. To protect your investment, it's best to avoid parking heavy machinery on the asphalt until it has fully cured.

The exact time required for drying and curing depends on several factors, including the weather, the specific asphalt mix, and its thickness. For the most accurate advice tailored to your situation, consult with your asphalt contractor.
