J&W Asphalt

There were 2 phases to the process four days apart. Day 1: removed existing driveway; repaired frost block at edge of garage floor; added class 5 base material and regraded. Day 2: paved with 3" compacted MN DOT 2360 MV4 asphalt. The two different crews arrived promptly at 7AM and were finished by 9AM. Both groups were highly professional, courteous, and meticulous in their respective jobs. Excellent results and reasonably priced.

J&W Asphalt did a wonderful job on our neglected parking lot for our small business. They fixed the potholes, sealed cracks, applied a seal coat, and re-striped the lot. It looks great and they did it at a reasonable price. We will definitely use them again.

Communication with the company was excellent. They kept us informed of when work would begin. They worked efficiently and left no mess behind. Written instructions on care were given upon completion. The driveway looks great. I anticipate that it will hold up well but can’t comment on that yet as it has only been two weeks since completion.

Great! They made a huge difference on the look of our driveway. We loved how they edged the sides of the driveway, they made it look new!

First met rep at Home and Garden show in February. I was interested to know more about infrared repair. We spoke and he explained how it worked and why it was beneficial. I scheduled an estimate and had the repair service done quite quickly. VERY satisfied with the process and the crew was very professional and willing to answer all my questions. NOW for the reason I gave for a "C" Responsive. Once I accepted the bid and scheduled the work, the follow up for the sealing of the drive took over a month 1/2. (May 8th-June 25th) While I was waiting to get sealing scheduled (was told 3-4 weeks) I had zero contact, I sent several emails until a date was finally scheduled, June 22nd. No time block was given (morning mid-day, afternoon) so I waited and make several calls.. It wasn't until I sent off an email to the company asking what was going on (it was 4PM) I was told the crew had equipment issues, and couldn't make it, would the 25th work? Having no other choice, yes. I have no problem with rescheduling, I do have a problem of NOT knowing why a crew isn't showing, and I have to make all the calls to find out why. Once they arrived They were quick, proficient and really did a great job. So Love them for the work, not a fan of their lack of communication. Work on this!!!

Excellent! Eric was very friendly, prompt and professional. The bid was, also, professional and not scrawled on a piece of paper, like another bid we received. J&W was able to fit our project in, even though we didn't decide to do this, until very late in the summer. That was a nice surprise!

J&W Asphalt did a great job on my driveway. My apron had sunk up by my garage and they were able to repair it for a reasonable price. Once the repair was completed, they seal coated my driveway. Their communication was good and I thought their crews were very professional. Both the repair and seal coat look great.

I am writing this in behalf of my mother who had a horrible experience with this company. First, they did not show up on time. Then the seal wash washed off in 3 days by our garage. Getting them to come back to fix the washed areas was really tough. They said they would only come out if they had other work in the area. Had to wait few weeks before they came out to fix it. After they"fixed" the washed areas within a week my mother noticed some cracks that were not sealed with weed growing in-between the cracks. The contract did say the cracks would be sealed but when my mother called to get that fixed he started yelling on the phone at my mother loudly and finally agreed to come out to look at it. When he showed up he was yelling loudly outside the house and when my mother asked him to not speak loud he claimed he normally speaks that way... it was so loud the neighbors outside were looking. He finally sealed the crack and said he won't come back out to fix anything anymore. The contract also said there is a one year warranty so not sure what that means.

All crew members did a great job. On time, respectful, fast.

They had to come back and redo it.  A portion of it was lower so water stayed by the garage door.

Tear out team arrived on time  and removed old asphalt driveway. They then installed and leveled three inches of new base. The next day it started to rain and did so for about three days. The installation date was moved out to allow everything to dry properly. Things did not seem to dry out, so the area supervisor came back out and determined that there was too much clay beneath the new base, He had his crew come out and remove the new base and clay and reinstall the base again. In a few days everything dried properly and a new asphalt driveway was installed. The driveway is 16 feet wide and 60 feet long. I am very pleased with the finished job. I would highly recommend them.

After receiving several competitive bids, I contracted J&W to replace our ~ 40 year old asphalt driveway. I was a little late in getting the job scheduled earlier this summer, and J&W informed me at the time of contract that I'd likely be scheduled in early September. As promised, they contacted me about 1 week prior to the job beginning in early September. The tear-out crew arrived on-time and they listened to the few specific instructions that I had regarding some minor shape changes for the new driveway. I has also replaced an adjacent retaining wall earlier this year and I wanted to ensure that they wouldn't undercut that wall during the driveway tear-out. All went well and the crew was courteous throughout the several hours that the tear-out lasted.
Paving was scheduled to take place several days later. The paving crew arrived on-time. The shape of my driveway required a decent amount of hand-work which the crew performed with ease. Once the job was finished, they staked the street-side of our driveway to ensure that nobody drove on it and left me with a page of instructions. 
I'm pleased with the work performed and the value that J&W provided, and I'd definitely recommend them to my friends.

The estimate process was easy and the estimator, Ryan, did the estimating process while I was out of town. He emailed the completed bid to me. Ryan promptly returned a couple phone calls when I had questions and email responses were also quick. He pointed me to a development where they had done the driveway installs to view their previous work. The homes in that area were between 2 and 8 years old. Even though the driveways all showed various levels of homeowner maintenance and ranged in age, they all looked great. No cracks or sinking in any of them. The bid price was right in the middle of the five bids we received. So we signed the contact and scheduled our install.
The removal crew (2 guys) arrived mid-morning and started removal of our existing driveway and excavation to expand the driveway. We added six additional feet in width from our existing driveway. The removal went pretty fast and without any real issue. About 1pm the rest of the crew (about 4 more guys) arrived with new class 5 base material and they installed and compacted the new base. The asphalt machine and hot asphalt arrived later in the afternoon and the crew went to work laying the new asphalt. They laid a nice thick mat of asphalt. The width of the driveway required two passes down the driveway. Workers hand-tooled the seam where the two passes joined in the middle of the driveway. The edges and where the asphalt meet concrete were all hand tamped and angled. They then rolled the entire driveway. Two guys remained after the rest of the crew left and continued to roll the driveway for about 45 minutes, making sure any visible marks were worked out. The crew swept the street to remove any dirt, class 5 or asphalt debris in the road before they left.
Our end result is a beautiful smooth black driveway. No visible seams that you see in some driveways. Our yard and street were cleaned up and when they left you couldn't tell they had been there (other than the great new driveway). We're very happy with our new driveway and the way it was installed. We won't hesitate to recommend Jand W Asphalt.

We were out of town when the service was done. We left the garage door unsecured so they could have access to the garage. When we arrived home, we absolutely loved the job that was done. Could not even tell a first look where the repair started on the driveway. Everything was clean and the garage door was secured just as they said they would do. We now have a smooth transition from the driveway to the garage. I still wait for the bump when backing out and pulling into the garage and there is nothing now. Great job! Did not have to cut out the portion of the driveway to repair. Just heated the area and added asphalt with existing asphalt to even it out.
