"We had Cutting Edge Remodeling put in a new tile backsplash in our kitchen. It turned out great! The project was easy to schedule, and was completed in a reasonable amount of time. Clean up each day was perfect. We love our new kitchen and would not hesitate to hire again for other projects."

"I'm a repeat customer. The work was to complete the kitchen renovation we started in 2012. The workers were professional arrived on time and completed the work on schedule. Since I decided to do our floors, they allowed me enough time to get the floors installed prior to them finishing off the details in the kitchen. Given 2 years of living in the kitchen since our work was complete, I think I would have had them do more work (e.g. painting the kitchen) instead of committing my own time to doing the work."
After. A custom peninsula and quartz counters created functional seating for the family.
After. Quartz counters. Butcher block. Tile finishes
Before. There was a small awkward pie shaped cabinet and laminate countertops.

"Footprints Floors did an excellent job installing my kitchen ceramic tile backsplash. Gary, the owner, arranged a time to look at my project, discuss what I would like done, made suggestions and answered all of my questions. His quote was very reasonable. He explained the process of the installation, how long the project would take, etc. He was in communication with me and gave me updates as the project moved forward. Gary is very personable, reliable and I got the sense that he truly enjoys meeting people and takes pride in providing excellent workmanship. I cant say enough good things about the installer. He was polite, precise and a hard worker. His attention to detail was impressive. He prepped the area and cleaned up the area when he was finished. His workmanship is outstanding. My new backsplash is stunning. I would not hesitate hiring Footprint Floors in the future."

"Twin City Handyman performed a tear-out and install of a bathroom shower stall as well as other miscellaneous work on a second bathroom. They did an excellent job and we were extremely happy with the final product. Excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail! This was the second project they did for me and will definitely be using them yet again on more future projects!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Updating your backsplash without removing the tile is possible in a couple of different ways. First, you can remove the old grout and replace it with new grout to give your backsplash a fresh look. You can also change the grout color, which can have a surprisingly large impact on the final appearance of the backsplash. Finally, you can paint the original tile to totally change the look of the backsplash without removing it.

Per the International Code Council, walk-in shower floors should have a minimum slope of 1/4-inch per foot (or a 2% slope) towards the drain. The slope should be no steeper than 1/2-inch per foot (or a 4% slope). This helps safely direct water into the drain rather than all over your bathroom.

It’s not necessarily normal for tiles to lift, although it’s one of the common issues people may have with their tile flooring. Tiles correctly installed by pros with expansion joints should not lift over time. However, if the installation was done poorly, you might see tiles tenting or lifting as the house settles. This is more common in high-moisture areas with extreme temperatures.

Travertine is a natural stone, while porcelain is ceramic. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with porcelain travertine tiles. Some people prefer porcelain to travertine because it doesn’t require regular maintenance and it’s easier to clean. Porcelain travertine looks like the real thing but only costs $3 to $6 per square foot.

The rule tells you how to cut tile to install it in a corner. The 3/4/5 rule recommends that you should have 3 feet across on one straight line, four feet on the other perpendicular line, and 5 feet of length from the end of one of the lines to the other. You’re making a right triangle with the tile, and the hypotenuse (the line across from where the 3-foot lie and 4-foot line meet) should be 5 feet long.
