"Our glass shower door seized up and would only open part way. Bruno came over the day I called him, assessed the problem, sourced a glass door replacement hinge and installed it. Excellent customer service. Thank you, Bruno."

"The folks at Capital Siding, Windows and Construction were great to work with. They came out to take a look at our rotting window(s) situation, offered us options (and samples for comparison) for window and trim replacement, and then provided us with a timely, written estimate. It took 6 weeks to get our new windows made, and from there we worked w/them to schedule the installation. Our new Walsh vinyl windows are high quality and match the others we had replaced a few years ago. The workers were friendly, organized, tidy and efficient and the one guy who did the aluminum wrapping was an amazingly skilled craftsman! I highly recommend this company to anyone wanting to have their old windows replaced/external trim work matched to the rest of the house. We are very pleased with the quality of the windows and the workmanship, and they were terrific to work with!"

"They TCSP team did a great job. I had hired them before to do windows(and siding) in other parts of our older home and liked the work so when it was time to replace more windows I hired them again. They are always responsive and if there are any questions or concerns they address them. To me, that is worth a lot. Special shout out to Brian, Curt, Steve and Brent."

"Best repair experience I've had with my old house in years! II had a basement window that would not close because it had grown too big to fit into the frame due to moisture problems. I thought I would need to replace it and was worried whether they even sold these type windows anymore. Ben very cleverly decided he could take the window out and shave wood off the bottom and replace it - that idea worked perfectly! Problem solved by a person who obviously knows what he's doing. I'm going to use him for other projects I've been concerned about getting done. I'm so glad I found him on Angi."

"We replaced the windows in our 1933 home through the services of MadCity Windows. From the initial contact with their sales representative to final installation, the company provided top notch professional work. With the draft from the old windows and the cold of the glass, we are already saving on our energy bills. Our house had old, large windows, so they had to be custom made. As an industrial designer and interior designer, we find our windows to be of excellent quality."

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

Whether it's better to repair or replace a broken mirror depends on its size, value, and the extent of the damage. For small, inexpensive mirrors, replacement is often the better choice, as the average repair cost of around $200 can be close to the price of a new one. However, for large mirrors—like those over a bathroom vanity or large floor mirrors—repair is usually more cost-effective. A new large mirror can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars, while repairs typically range from $50 to $200. You should also consider the mirror's age and sentimental value. Antique mirrors and family heirlooms are often priceless and irreplaceable, making repair the most sensible or only option.

A common way to modernize arched windows is to install interior window treatments that allow light through the curved portion up to and let you cover the bottom portion for privacy. You can also install plantation shutters to make an arched window look more modern. From the exterior, arched windows can appear outdated if they’re coupled with ornate trim, so toning down the decor can make your window look more natural with a modern design.

When glass shatters, larger shards quickly drop to the ground, but smaller particles can go on an airborne journey up to 15 feet from the point of impact. So check under furniture, along the edges of rugs, and in dark corners for glass fragments. When in doubt, vacuum the entire room a few times after thoroughly cleaning.

Some stained glass window pieces could have significant value depending on their artistic and historical impact. Stained glass windows dating back to the 1800s or early 1900s may be worth $2,000 to over $150,000, particularly for prestigious brands like Tiffany. But most stained glass used in residential settings will not have exponential value, particularly if the stained glass is a more modern reproduction of classic styles.

You can add glass to your existing kitchen cabinet doors with a few tools and some patience. We recommend following the DIY steps listed above, which include cutting a panel for the glass, cutting and adding the glass, and reattaching your cabinetry. If these steps seem too complicated or you’d rather have the peace of mind of a professional installation, hire a cabinet installation pro to handle this project for you.
