"Profi did an amazing job. I started my tiling project and became too busy at work to finish. This is not your ideal professionals job. Profi still treated me like I was their number 1 customer. They were able to come out and finish the job within a week (On Saturday, even though they were incredibly busy)! I was at work all day when they came. The sight I saw when I got home from work was beautiful. They did such an amazing job, I was so happy to have my kitchen back. I can’t recommend Profi enough. I asked if I could write this review for them because they were so great (not the other way around like usual). If you need tile done, from start or finish, use them! You won’t regret it."

"Harmond helped me over video link to test the components in my broken refrigerator. The testing confirmed that it was the compressor that had failed. I purchased a new refrigerator because I decided it was not worth the cost to replace the compressor."

"It started out great as I looked into replacing a 15 year old water heater that was making increasingly louder banging sounds back in the fall of 2022. A rep reached out right away with a phone call and had gathered details from me over the phone and after I sent him some photos. The install was scheduled and completed in a timely manner, especially considering it wasn't an emergency. The technician worked most of the day on the project as they changed from the original vent stack to a power vent connected to a PVC pipe that went out through the side of my house. Unfortunately the floor got a bit of purple PVC glue stains in the process but it didn't bug me too much at the time since it is an unfinished basement. The main issue I had stemmed from a failed permit from the city which is still unresolved at this time. The inspector required combustion air to be installed. They sent the same technician back out at no extra charge but he didn't have everything he would need to do the work and it seemed like he had already had a long day. I also questioned the need to bust another hole in my already drafty old house and asked if there was an alternative option, since when I made the same request of the inspector he had mentioned they could do some paper work and a test to ensure there was sufficient air to draw from in the room. The company said they would take care of it with the city but as weeks and months passed and several calls with the office, it turned out the guy who was supposed to take care of it left but they were still trying to get him to complete the paperwork. I understand this was the perfect storm combo of an overly critical city inspector, employee turnover issues, and a homeowner (me) worried about efficiency, but it is unfortunate there has been no way to get the permit closed out after 1.5 years and counting. On top of that, after about 6 months since the install, the water heater stopped working due to a faulty flammable vapor sensor. They were able to get that replaced after a day or two and I understand the issue was with the manufacturer, but it didn't sit well considering all the other issues. Overall the company has been pretty responsive whenever I reach out, but unfortunately they haven't been able to finish the job."

"The plumber who came to review project and place a bid was personable and good at explaining the process of what he would do. The bid he gave was right in line with other bids I decided to go with a "very local" company I discovered during this searching process"

Percolation Tests questions, answered by experts

According to the National Cancer Institute, asbestos-related diseases can take anywhere from 10 to 40 years for symptoms to appear. The health risks increase with prolonged and heavier exposure. Risk factors also include:

  • Amount of exposure

  • Chemical makeup, size, and shape of the asbestos fibers

  • Length of time a person is exposed to asbestos

  • Genetic factors

  • Source of exposure (direct exposure or secondhand exposure from someone directly exposed)

Asbestos is commonly found in certain older homes, depending on the time period in which they were built. Asbestos use in home construction began in the 1920s and peaked after World War II before being limited by legislation in the ’70s, so a house constructed in 1880 is unlikely to contain asbestos, while one built in 1950 is much more likely to. Research a home’s history to determine the time period when it was built and any renovations made since.

In the 1980s, the use of asbestos in house siding materials underwent a significant decline, ultimately being phased out by the mid-1980s to early 1990s. This change was largely due to a growing awareness of the severe health risks associated with asbestos exposure, particularly its link to lung diseases and cancers. With increased public concern and regulatory agency involvement, building codes and regulations were updated to restrict the use of asbestos in construction materials.

If you suspect exposure to asbestos, prioritize seeking medical advice by informing your healthcare provider about the potential exposure with clear details about the circumstances that led to the exposure. Regular health check-ups and screenings if you work in high-risk industries or live in a home with asbestos are essential for early detection of any asbestos-related conditions. You should also consider consulting occupational health experts or legal professionals for guidance on potential next steps and preventive measures.

If you can locate building records, you may be able simply to see what type of tiles (or bonding agent) was used. Any flooring made between 1950 and 1989 more than likely contains asbestos. Asbestos tiles can also be slightly thicker than other tiles and often measure 9” x 9”, 12” x 12”, and 18” x 18. Black mastic was a commonly used adhesive that contains asbestos.
