"Grain LLC is a topnotch company to work with. Donald and his crew went above and beyond my expectations to make my hardwood floors look absolutely beautiful. I know very little about home remodeling and he walked me through every step of the project. I would highly recommend them to do your hardwood flooring projects. Very personable group of guys!"

"Mel came to my home yesterday to clean the carpet in my family room downstairs and a bedroom upstairs. I love that his method was very low moisture as the floors were dry in short time frame. We had pet stains and smells from years of not being properly cleaned and I would estimate 90% are gone. Thanks for the great service."

"They vacuumed all the beds and furniture, they vacuumed all the floors right down to vacuuming in the corners. They polished all my furniture and cleaned the outside of my oak cabinets. They put everything away that I asked into my china cabinet. They cleaned all the windows in the inside and cleaned the windows on my display cabinets. My house just sparkles now."

Floor Polishers questions, answered by experts

Cleaning floors is a relatively easy DIY job, but paying for a professional cleaning service is worthwhile if you don’t have the time to dedicate to cleaning or if you have particularly dirty floors, deep-set stains, or wooden floors that you might damage during the cleaning process. A professional house cleaner will have the tools and experience necessary to remove dirt, pet hair, debris, and even stains and discoloration from your floors without damaging them. The service is also relatively affordable, making it a great investment if you don’t have the time or tools to do it yourself.

Floor polishing isn’t technically necessary, but it will help your floors last longer and hold up better to scratches. Floor polish is a thin coating that fills in small abrasions on your floor and makes them less visible, and it can act as a protective covering that prevents future damage to the floor underneath. Floor polish helps protect against water and moisture, so it’s a great service if you want to extend the lifespan of your floors. Additionally, polish makes your floors shine, making your home look cleaner and more inviting.

Steam mops can be a better option than traditional mops because the steam can lift stubborn dirt from floors without using chemicals, and it also kills bacteria and dust mites. However, steam mops have drawbacks: they are more expensive, require an electrical outlet, and are not suitable for all flooring types, such as laminate or hardwood, which can be damaged by the steam.

Regular mopping can also sanitize floors effectively when done with the right cleaning products and techniques, though it may require more effort. The main advantage of a traditional mop is its versatility, as it can be used on any type of flooring. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your floor type, budget, and cleaning preferences.

After carpet removal, prepare for new flooring by assessing the subfloor. You will want to address any imperfections to create a smooth and level base for installation. Remember, proper subfloor preparation is crucial for optimal new flooring results. Consider repairing and replacing damaged areas for a stable foundation. For both wood and concrete subfloors, consider sanding to remove any debris or adhesives remaining thoroughly.

The best way to clean vinyl floors is to vacuum or sweep away debris and then mop the floors using a mixture of warm water and dish soap or vinegar. You can also use store-bought cleaners if they’re marked safe for vinyl surfaces.
