"Tony was very friendly. He was very concerned about making everything just right with his work. He was very particular. He cleaned up after himself. I would highly recommend him and would definitely hire him again when I am in need of plumbing work."

"Everyone was very accommodating on short notice. The work was done well and the plumber was trustworthy and nice. B&D offered to clean our pipes either by snake or pressured water. We chose to have our pipes cleaned with pressured water, which was more expensive, but we wanted to make sure that the pipes were completely clear to avoid the hassle of needing a plumber again soon."

Everyday they cleaned up behind themselves and was patient with me to answer all of my questions and any concerns I had . They were very professional and pleasant to work with. "We are pleased with our bath remodel that included a new tub, tub surround and wainscot walls. There was one small problem with the walls due to the ceiling and walls not being plumb however they did go above and beyond by doing more than was was agreed upon by making plumbing improvements, installing a new lighted medicine cabinet and repairing a light fixture. They were very courteous and the installer even made a suggestion for a change that we agreed would be better."

"We are extremely satisfied with the shower replacement project. The professionals were knowledgeable, prepared, buttoned up and friendly. The workmanship on the installation was superb. We are looking forward to having the company install a shower and bath tub in a second bathroom, a pretty good indication of our satisfaction."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

In the short term, addressing vulnerable pipes before winter provides immediate protection against pipe bursts. Upgrading old pipes also improves your water quality by removing internal corrosion. Over the long term, properly installed plumbing resists the severe freeze-thaw cycles common in Buffalo. Upgrading your system also protects water heaters from hard water damage and ensures your property complies with state codes, which simplifies the home sale process.

Helpful?

Discolored or rust-tinged water indicates failing galvanized steel pipes that require immediate replacement. If you experience recurring pipe freezes in the exact same spot, the previous repair failed to address the underlying insulation issue. Uneven water pressure points to improper pipe sizing. Additionally, persistent sewer gas odors in your Buffalo basement indicate improperly vented drain lines. Always inspect for unpermitted work, as it violates state codes and requires professional correction.

Helpful?

Determine if your property uses municipal water or a private well, and whether it connects to city sewer or a septic system. You must also account for your home's construction year to identify pipe materials like galvanized steel. For exterior plumbing, always factor in Buffalo frost depths of 42 to 48 inches. Finally, check your municipal water pressure, as high pressure requires a pressure-reducing valve to protect your fixtures.

Helpful?

Always hire a licensed contractor who carries the required liability insurance and surety bonds. Your professional must understand the local permit process and pull all necessary permits before starting work. Given the hard water in MN, ensure your contractor has experience mitigating scale buildup. Finally, verify their availability for rapid emergency responses during the winter months, as freezing temperatures frequently cause burst pipes and frozen lines.

Helpful?

Homeowners frequently overlook the required permits and inspections for plumbing work. Winter weather in MN creates frozen ground and access constraints that make exterior work extremely difficult. Additionally, the local water supply is notoriously hard, so new installations require water treatment to prevent rapid scale buildup. Finally, adding bathrooms to rural properties requires a septic capacity evaluation, and all work must comply strictly with the state plumbing code.
