"We had a humidifier installed. They installed it quickly and professionally. The installer Jimmy was very helpful and even gave me a couple pointers in regards to installing a wifi thermostat. I've always had great experiences with Kath/Aquarius home services and will definitely use them again."

"I needed to have an EV charger installed at home, with a strict budget set by the company I work for. Luke not only came under budget, but also delivered top-notch service from start to finish. He was professional, punctual, and maintained great communication throughout the process. I always knew what to expect, and he kept me updated at every step. The job was done quickly, with zero hassle, and the quality of the work speaks for itself. If you are looking for someone reliable and efficient-especially when working within tight budget constraints-I highly recommend Luke. Would definitely work with him again."

"Gregg arrived on-time and was always in communication with me regarding how long the patio door glass would take to arrive and how long it would take to install. His quoted price was excellent, and the quality of work was top-notch. He's dedicated to doing the job correctly for the bid price--no extra costs even if has to spend more time than he originally thought to do the work. VERY pleased with professionalism, courteousness, punctuality, and communication. Definitely will hire again.

"Our Christmas lights looked amazing. The crew did a great job with the install. The lights on the trees stayed in place even with windy conditions. Appreciated that they were quick with the removal. We have used several companies over the years, but will definitely be using Custom Christmas Lights again."

"Another reliably good service transaction from Cady and Dustin (and two roofing sub-contractors). We got an estimate for this project during a previous visit. Price was competitive with another Angie's-Listed electrician. We went with a known entity. NuTone 2.5-sone bath fans, with switches independent of the light switch, were installed in two bathrooms. A separate switch had to be installed in one of the locations because of room configuration; the other room had a simple replacement of switch type. It was an all-day project, but work was good and a decent value. Dustin kept up cleaning attic insulation throughout the day. Only minor complaint I have is a small divot put into the wall plaster near one of the switches."

"
Hal and his crew were a pleasure to work with. Anytime there was a discretionary call to make, Hal would consult me to be sure he was following my wishes. His crew cleaned up after themselves daily and everyone was polite and friendly. Hal's quality of work is amazing. He cuts no corners, and he makes sure no one else does either! My husband screwed down into the deck a stabilizing bar for the steps that go down into the pool. When Hal saw the next day that my hubby had used a type of screw that would rust over time, Hal quietly replaced them with stainless steel. All the wood was nicely sanded smooth and its a pleasure to touch it.
I was actually sorry to see Hal finish up the project and move on to another job. It was nice having him and his staff around the house. Now I just need to think up another project or two to have him come back!"

"This company has treated me well, especially Mike Museus, who worked over a year (last summer and this spring) to find out why there was a fluid leak in my new AC unit. The leak didn't affect the cooling of my home so I wasn't concerned, but Mike was persistent, even to returning finally with an "expert" to help diagnose the problem. What they found was that the A-coil above the furnace was full of tiny pinholes. On the day this was to be replaced, Steve came before 9 a.m. to remove the defective A-Coil and install the new one. He worked on it all day, without lunch or a break, leaving shortly after 5 p.m. There was no charge, as it was still under warranty. With all that, he still took the time to explain to me why the replacement was so important: that the defective A-Coil could eventually leak enough to damage the furnace below it. Because he was using solder, I believe, to install the new part, he turned on the ceiling fan in the adjacent room to mitigate the fumes. My only complaint is that a few of my vinyl floor tiles were damaged/discolored by the soldering process. That part of the flooring has had water damage before and is missing a few tiles so, after a day of hard work, he may have attributed the damage to work done before. It's not a big deal; I just wish he'd have said something. I have to hand it to Steve, though; he was working by himself, which frequently required him to leave the furnace area to check the outdoor AC unit, then rush back to the indoor work. I think it might have been a two-person job. At least, an assistant could have facilitated some of the work done."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

You can determine what size generator you need for a transfer switch by matching the switch to the largest outlet on your generator. Larger generators can power up to 10 circuits, while most 5,000-watt generators can provide power to six circuits. So, if your generator’s largest outlet is 30 amps, you’ll need a 30-amp transfer switch.

Here’s what you can run with different wattages and types of generators:

Portable generator:

  • 2,000 watts can handle a large appliance like a freezer or refrigerator, plus a few smaller items like phones or computer chargers.

  • 4,000 watts will keep two large appliances operating and a few smaller devices.

  • 8,000 watts should power most essential appliances and other devices, including a sump pump, well pump, or your dishwasher.

Partial to whole-house generator:

  • 20,000 watts and above will make it seem like your home’s power is still on.

In most municipalities, you will need a permit to install a permanent home generator, including emergency backup, partial-home, and whole-home generators. A permit for a generator usually costs between $50 and $250, depending on where you live. Your electrician or certified generator installer will usually pull the permit for you—and might be required to do so by your building department—but you’ll be on the hook for the cost of the permit. You should ask your installer before agreeing to any work if they will pull the necessary permits for your project.

Generators run on a variety of fuel types, ranging from natural gas to solar power. Keep in mind that fuel costs varying by type:

  • Natural gas: $2,000–$21,000 per year

  • Liquid propane: $2,000–$21,000 per year

  • Diesel: $3,000–$20,000 per year

  • Gasoline: $500–$3,000 per year

  • Solar generator: $2,000–$25,000 per unit

  • Battery backup: $10,000–$25,000 per unit

Costs range from $500 to $2,500, depending on generator type and installation complexity.
