Small jobs welcome

"We recently had N.M.T. Companies install a septic system, and I can't say enough good things about our experience. From the moment I sent them our septic design, I received a fair and competitive quote very quickly. Brennen and Anna were fantastic to work with and went above and beyond to make sure our project stayed on schedule. We were in the process of selling our home, so timing was incredibly important. They worked through bad weather, coordinated permits, handled multiple inspections, and kept us informed every step of the way. Their communication and professionalism made what could have been a stressful project feel easy. Not only did they do outstanding work, but they're genuinely great people. You can tell they truly care about their customers. As a thoughtful surprise, they even gave our entire family company T-shirts after the septic was completed. If you're looking for an honest, hardworking company that stands behind their work, I highly recommend N.M.T. Com"

"I live in Linwood Township and they require A septic tank pump out every 3 years and this was the 3rd year of my living in this house. Called Hassle Free and scheduled an appointment for Thursday afternoon and received A call shortly after noon. The driver told me he would be their in 45 minutes and he was here in about 35 minutes. I had the access lid dug out because I wanted to check the scum level last spring and inspect the water level. The driver pointed out that I have A failing baffle but as I intend on having A new septic system installed in approximately 3 years we could let repairs go until then. The driver used A modified post hole digger to mix up the sludge at the bottom of the tank. This is the first time in my 65 years of living with septic systems that any septic maintenance service has mixed up the sludge in order to clean the bottom of the tank better. He left just enough to facilitate the anaerobic digestion process. I also had them install A riser so I don't have to dig it out any longer. The next time it will need pumping I will be 68 Y.O. and there is no telling if I could dig it out. Now I can just take off the lid and check the operation easily. The driver also used A mirror to look at the interior of the tank for cracks and he alerted me to the crack in my lid. It's small and I will monitor it. He told me they can procure lids if it needs to be replaced in the future. I was charged $265.00 for the pumping, 113 for the riser and installation, 10.00 for the Linwood pumping permit for A grand total of $ 388.00. I think this is A reasonable charge especially considering they took extra time to mix up the sludge and suck that out. Many times I have seen septic service people suck only the water out and give A half hearted attempts at sucking out the sludge. After many years at the bottom of the tank that stuff turns to concrete. Many tampons, sanitary napkins and tampon applicators were seen floating in the tank after mixing. These should never be disposed of in A septic system. Some have probably passed into my finger system and that will do your system no good. I am A bachelor and live alone so this ditreous is obviously from the former owner of my home. In conclusion I will be calling Hassle Free Septic service again and I see no reason to look elsewhere for septic service."

"We own a number of rental houses in the metro area and have
used R&D Plumbing for about 5 years now. Rob is the owner of the company
and has provided our services. His prices are fair, he arrives at the time we
schedule, jobs are completed on time, on budget and we have been very happy
with the quality of his work. Rob has also been available if we have follow up
questions. Because of his professionalism, quality and price no longer call for
other plumbing quotes. We just call Rob for all of our plumbing needs. "

"The technician emptied the freezer, which was in the basement, to work on the part that needed repair. Then he neglected to put anything back into the freezer, including a turkey I had bought for Christmas and a rack of ribs. Two days after he left, I went out of town for two weeks. The turkey actually exploded and spewed its liquid all over everything, which had to be discarded. I let AHS know and they couldn't even bother to call me or follow up on this. I'm considering not renewing my contract with them because of the quality (or lack thereof) of many of the providers they send."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

A septic tank with a 1,500-gallon capacity is good for larger homes with up to 6 or 7 bedrooms. The average home can go with a smaller tank, about 1,000 gallons, which supports a home size of up to 2,500 square feet, or a home with about three bedrooms.

Depending on the size and location of your septic tank repair job, you may want to let the septic pros finish before tackling other backyard work. However, in some cases, it’s not a bad idea to coordinate between your providers if the timing’s right and your septic repair pro says it’s safe to do so. For instance, if the septic repair work is happening in the fall, you might want to take advantage of the opportunity to prepare your backyard landscaping for winter , or in spring, start mulching the garden beds.

You can add three rotten tomatoes or 1/4 ounce of yeast to your septic tank to speed up the decomposition of sludge. You can add the tomatoes by way of your garbage disposal and the yeast by way of your toilet. You can do either of these additives once every three months as needed.

A septic tank riser should extend to just above the ground level or slightly above it. The exact height can vary depending on local regulations and personal preferences, but a common guideline is to have the riser's top flush with or no more than a few inches above the surrounding ground. This height allows for easy access to the septic tank without creating a tripping hazard or obstructing mowing and landscaping activities. It's essential to ensure that the riser lid is easily visible and accessible for regular maintenance and inspection while being mindful of safety and aesthetics.

Digging a well can cost between $20 and $25,000, depending on your needs. If you’re looking to dig a well yourself, all you need is a shovel. If you’re looking to have a well drilled by a professional, you can expect to pay around $15 to $30 per foot. The total cost of drilling a well will average to $5,500.
