"The job was done well. I noticed a small leak the following day and called to inquire about it. They sent the technician over within the hour and he replaced a supply line to the toilet. He was in and out within 10 minutes."

"Oscar was very responsive and came out based on being in the area already. As this is a problem our home has had in the past, it was nice to see a different perspective from our last plumber. Oscar was fair in his assessment and took an approach to the problem that was unique from our last plumber. This small difference resulted in less cost (no toilet removal) and less mess overall. He will definitely be the first call for our future Drain or Sewer issues, which I hope we don't have."

"It went great! We used our home warranty service, who set us up with Boevaag, to address a leak into our finished basement. It took a little while for us to get the service scheduled (we were awaiting a call from them to schedule); however, once scheduled it was just great. Ruben was the plumber who came. He called in advance to let us know his arrival time (and was even a few minutes early). He quickly identified the issue (only one wax ring was installed for the toilet) and the solve (replace the ring with and quot;specand quot; of two rings) . He even spoke several times with our warranty provider to ensure the fix was covered (originally it was denied due to the warranty service representative's lack of knowledge of basic plumbing). At the end of the service, Ruben cleaned thoroughly and explained to both me and my husband what to watch for and when we should consider filling in the dry wall that was removed to access the leak. We will definitely use Boevaag again (even without the warranty coverage) and will request Ruben.

"McDonough's is my go-to for any drain problems!  The guys who came were very professional, helpful and all around great.  They worked a tough clog out of the drain line coming from the laundry room, then checked the main sewer line from the house and did some preventative clearing on some roots (the house has a history of roots clogging the main line and McDonough's has cleared it twice already, which the guys knew so they checked while they were already there and had the equipment ready).  The work was well done, they replaced some aging parts proactively, and they cleaned everything up like they had never been there.  Fantastic!

Toilets questions, answered by experts

If you notice that your toilet is leaking puddles near the base, the leak is coming from your toilet bowl, and the water could be unsanitary. This is a situation that needs to be dealt with immediately—call a nearby plumbing repair pro right away. A contained leak from tank to bowl is not as urgent a situation, but it could be raising the cost of your water bill—have it looked at as soon as you can.

Check connections, clean fixtures, and apply finishing or protective coatings to preserve months' worth of shine and functionality.

Yes, $5,000 is a healthy budget for a DIY bathroom renovation. It can go a long way in making the space more accessible and stylishly spa-like. Providing you stick to modest materials and don’t make any major plumbing or structural changes, you can upgrade fixtures, retile, and add some stylish bathroom accessories and savvy storage solutions to maximize the space.

There are a few reasons why this could be the case. More than likely, your flapper is worn out and needs to be replaced. When it’s worn out, it lowers the water pressure during each flush leading to inefficient flushing. Luckily, replacing a toilet flapper is a simple repair that should only take about 30 minutes.

The lifespan of a toilet can vary significantly. While the porcelain body itself can last up to 50 years or more with proper care, most plumbers suggest an average functional lifespan of 10 to 25 years, and many homeowners replace their toilets after about 20 years.

A toilet's longevity is influenced by factors like maintenance quality, hard water buildup, and damage to the finish. It's also important to note that internal components have much shorter lifespans than the bowl; for example, flappers may last only a few years, while fill valves can last around 10 years.

Even if an older toilet is still functional, consider upgrading to a high-efficiency model to save on water costs.
