"They installed the Air conditioner about a year ago, and they came back this summer to service the unit. The service was good, they have great customer service, they always respond if you need a service, it was a quick response, they practice proper covid safeguards which was very important."

"It was very easy to set up an appointment with Brandon. We had a discussion about the issues with the air condition and he was able to repair the very old system and got it working again. "I currently own a rental property in Michigan. I often find it difficult to provide quality maintenance from afar, I live in Florida. Air conditioners can stop working in the middle of the night for many reasons. Your local power grid might shut down late at night. Power surges can also trip your breakers if too much power is being used in the area at the time. If your AC is connected to a digital thermostat, it gets naturally cooler at night, so the outdoor temperature might dip below the automated setting to turn the cooling system off.

To reset your air conditioner, start by turning it off at the thermostat. Then, shut off power to the AC system at the circuit breaker. Some units have a dedicated "reset" button; if yours does, press and hold it for three to five seconds. If your air conditioner doesn't have a reset button, or if you are resetting it after a power outage, leave the circuit breaker off for at least 30 minutes to allow the system to reset itself. Afterward, turn the power back on at the breaker, turn on the AC from the thermostat, and set it to "cool" to test the system.

A home AC unit provides anywhere from one-half to five tons of cooling and requires approximately two to four pounds of refrigerant per ton of cooling. At approximately five to 10 minutes to fill one pound of refrigerant, a home that requires three tons of cooling will take about six to 12 pounds of refrigerant and approximately 30 minutes to two hours to completely recharge the unit.

Unfreezing an AC unit is not a DIY project unless the problem is a dirty air filter. Changing out an air filter is easy for homeowners, but otherwise, trying to repair ductwork, refill refrigerant, or replace a blower fan motor are tasks best left to the pros. Otherwise, you could cause further damage to your cooling system or even harm to yourself.
