"Several years ago we had a toilet installed by another contractor. When it began leaking into the basement last month, I called that contractor twice--one time, he said he'd be out the next day (no show), and the next he never returned my call. Vanderhyde came out within two days after I called. The plumber immediately spotted the problem, explained why the first installation probably had some issues, and fixed the problem in short order. Anthony was professional, prompt, and even offered another very small adjustment ($16) so our toilet would flush better. I will be using Vanderhyde going forward for all my plumbing needs. "
"A++++! bob and matt are awesome! Thank you angie's list, for helping us find the best contractor that we have ever worked with...and we have been home-owners for 15 years! Bob was available on the phone, from the first phone call, and great with communication all the way around. He worked us in right away, on our schedule, and we were fortunate enough to have him work us in the very next day after he came out to give us an estimate. Bob and matt worked hard and non-stop from the moment they got to our house. We had a few projects to be done that day, two wall sconces and a ceiling fan light fixture where there was no ceiling fan before. Of course, I wanted the sconces where I wanted them ( I don't like to hear ?no'? when I want something the way I want it! ;) ), and as challenging as it was, bob and matt never once suggested it would be easier to put them a little off my marks. Bob said, ?ok, that's where you want them, that's where they will go.? you have to love that! It was just positive energy the whole time, bob and matt have a very positive, ?can do,? attitude. Now I have everything just exactly the way I envisioned it, without the damage to the walls I was expecting, it just looks amazing and i'm so delighted that I didn't have the wall repair I was expecting because they worked a miracle on that job! I just love that they spent the extra time to work hard and not take any short-cuts to give me what I wanted without any damage to the wall. I also love that bob stuck to the estimate he gave us (very reasonable), even though I am pretty sure the job took a little longer than any of us thought is was going to. On a more personal note, bob and matt were a joy to have in the house, I am bi-polar 1 and have extreme anxiety issues, so, for me, it is difficult to have people in the house sometimes, (it is my fortress of solitude! Lol) so, when I say it was a joy to have bob and matt in the house, that is a big deal for me! "When we decided to redo our kitchen in April of 2012, we knew what we wanted fixed, our budget and that's about it. We started talking to contractors, kitchen design centers and researching ideas. We quickly realized we were in WAY over our heads. A lot of places offer free design services if you buy all of your materials through them. We didn't want to be tied down. We didn't want a complete tear down to the studs, either. Homemade Design to the rescue! First of all the price was an absolute steal for the service provided. Amanda and co. Listened to what we wanted and came up with inovative,functional and beautiful solutions. Our house is old. We wanted to keep that 1920s feel, but still have a dishwasher, granite countertops and stainless appliances! Amanda had the brilliant idea of only replacing the bottom cabinets. She also gave me excellent instructions on how to refinish my existing cabinets so they look like new. This was a perfect solution for US. Homemade Design gave us ideas for layout, cabinets, lighting, wall paint, appliances, furniture, countertops, backsplash, faucets, sink,and cusions for built in. She would have recommended flooring if we wanted,but we didn't. Now, Amanda is more like a consultant...( I actually called her my kitchen remodel therapist). You still are ultimately responsible for the plan and what works for you. If your measurements are off (like mine were) that's on you. I was adament about no island and no microwave over the stove and so she didn't put those in the design. Some suggestions were not my style. And I said so. Honestly, if I picked out my own kitchen it would be so safe: white subway tile or something. Amanda gave me the guts to mix patterns and create something spectacular! It took almost a year to complete ( contractors fault) We did a lot of work ourselves. We bought the cabinets, backsplash tile, light fixtures, table and banquette cusions through Homemade Design at a great discount, we checked!! If you try shopping for any part of your kitchen, the volume of choices can be overwhelming. We loved having Amanda narrow it down for us. Communication was through email, mostly. She never took longer than three business days to respond to my million questions or concerns. Awesome. 5 months later, my kitchen is a dream come true. And I owe it all to Homemade Design! "
