"All of the work on my garage was done in a very professional manner and left me very pleased with the end result. Throughout my experience with Swartz Builders they were very honest and straightforward with me about their availability, the cost of different options, and how long they would need to do the job right. Probably the thing that I liked most about Swartz was that they were very honest with me up front when I called for a quote on my job. I worked directly with the president of the company (who did a great job checking up with me throughout the job and making sure I was happy) and he told me right up front that they were too busy to give me a quote at the time with the reality that they were swamped with work already and would not be able to do the work for me for 6 months or more. I appreciated that they told me the truth rather than trying to cram my job in with all the others and not give me the attention I would need. The president even gave me names of other contractors that he believed could complete the work for me in a timely fashion based on my project description. I was not diligent enough in pursuing these other contractors, but it was nice that he tried to help me out even though it wouldn't make him any richer for his effort. It just happened to work out that I was not in a rush to get the job done and I called them back some months later to see when they could fit me in. At this point they had some free time coming up and they told me they would get my job started first thing when the weather warmed up in the spring (I live in Michigan and an outdoor project like mine is no fun in the winter). They came out with snow still on the ground to look over the garage and give me a quote. They gave me plenty of options to obtain the desired result that I wanted with more or less cost involved and I agreed to have them come out and perform the work. I was assigned a very nice job manager which I became well acquainted with throughout the time the project was ongoing. He always called me or spoke with me in person every day that work was being carried out and he made sure to contact me immediately if any unforeseen circumstances came up that delayed any work. Another observation I made is that the job manager had no trouble with me sticking around and viewing their work which says a lot about their practices and pride in what they were doing. He also took time to explain different improvements to me, why some work had to be done a certain way per code or best practice, and he worked through different design decisions with me that needed to be made on the spot. Every day of the project the job manager and any other employees helping him out would show up in a timely fashion, would work hard to get the job done (as long as the weather allowed it), and cleaned up after themselves at the end of the day. The end result looks great and I had no problem paying for their work. The individuals I worked with were great to deal with on a professional and personal level and I had no qualms about leaving them on their own to complete my garage project. I would highly recommend this company for any type of general construction or re-modelling project you may have!

"I'm extremely satisfied with the work that was performed. From the first day that I got in contact with the company,I was assured that everything would be ok.Tom of R & L came to my building and assessed the situation and he immediately began to make calls to get things back in order for me.Because of the fire damage my building and contents were in bad shape.Tom was able to contact my insurance adjuster and before you know it there was all kinds of action going on in my building to get things back in order.I must say that I do now have a very professional and new looking building from the work done by R & L company.Of all the different people that Tom had to come and perform work on my building, they were all professional with very positive attitudes, and I felt comfortable with them being in my building.I will be recommending the services of R & L in the future, they are a great company and I love the work that they did for me.

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Dark academia is more of an interior decorating style than it is a type of architecture, but it calls on themes prevalent in gothic architecture. Part of the appeal of dark academia is that you can achieve the look and feel without renovating or remodeling your home. Instead, you can switch to a dark color palette and introduce metal, natural wood furniture, plaid decor, old books, and gothic decor to get the look and feel just right.

Costs depend on project complexity, materials, labor, permits, and required revisions.

Yes, you can finance cottage construction through several options. Construction loans provide funds in stages as work progresses, while home equity loans or lines of credit are available if you have existing property. Some lenders offer a combined construction and permanent mortgage. Always review loan terms and payment milestones before committing.

In-law suite floor plans almost always include at least one bedroom, a bathroom, and a combination kitchen/living room area or separate spaces for the kitchen and living room. Larger in-law suites built in accessory dwelling units separate from your main structure can feature multiple bedrooms, dining rooms, and entertainment rooms in addition to the necessities.

Federal architecture is most common in urban areas throughout the New England states, including the older parts of New York, Pennsylvania (namely, Boston and Philadelphia), Maryland, Massachusetts, and Virginia. The style also dominated in parts of Georgia in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, so many historical homes in the area embody this home design. Salem, MA, has two historic districts that predominantly feature this architectural style: Chestnut Street District and the Salem Maritime National Historic Site.
