"I had such a great experience with Big Lake Tree service! They removed a large tree and ground down the stump, the whole process was smooth from start to finish. The crew was professional, efficient and left the yard spotless! It’s hard to find people who take this much pride in doing their work. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone needing any tree work done!"

They do a fantastic job cutting the trees down and are very aware of the surroundings so they don t damage anything (cars etc). and when they clean up you would never know they were there, it is spotless. "The Drop Zone team was priced very comparable to 2 other quotes I received, they were able to schedule the tree removal 3 weeks earlier than the other quotes. The workers showed up on time, cut down the tree and other branches from a nearby tree that were hanging over my roof, protected my lawn and landscaping, did an excellent job of cleaning up the work site, and were personable to deal with."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

In most cases, leaving tree roots underground is not a problem if the stump has been removed or ground below the soil. However, some larger roots may decompose, leaving dents in your soil. Additionally, some aggressive trees, including willows, oaks, elms, maples, and poplars may grow back from roots. Large aggressive trees with established root systems are more likely to grow back.

No. Topping a tree refers to severely cutting down all its major branches and tree in a straight line. It was once recommended for streetside deciduous trees but has fallen out of practice. Topping leads to many problems, removing so much of the tree that many trees struggle to survive and become much more vulnerable to insects and diseases. Also, it doesn’t really help tree growth as once assumed and often leads to an ugly appearance of many sprouting stems in competition to become new main branches.

Leaf removal costs between $400 and $1,000 per acre on average. Nationally, the cost of leaf removal averages about $350. Cost factors for this project include lawn size, leaf removal method, tree density, location, and the time required to do the job. If your lawn removal service charges based on lawn size, you can expect to pay $0.02 to $0.10 per square foot.

Generally, you’ll want to prune back the trunk by 1 to 2 feet each year to promote bushy growth. Doing so concentrates vegetative buds closer to the bottom of the tree, where you can easily harvest fruit. For side shoots that are a year old, leave at least six leaves.

Never remove more than 30% of a tree’s foliage during pruning—even if your tree is really overgrown. Removing this much foliage at a time could kill your tree.

Yes, it’s possible to overwater a newly-planted tree. Daily watering is great for the first few weeks, but it’s important not to go overboard. Excessive watering can lead to various problems, including root rot, fungal diseases, and a lack of root development.
