"He fixed up my cobble stone in the basement and our old barn. It looks good and the stone is now stable and secure. We also got a sliding barn door on our barn. It opens smoothly."

Hello my name is Kylie, I have been in the drywall and painting fields for over 20 years. I am willing to travel over an hour from the Midland, Bay City, and Saginaw area for jobs. I do new construction and remodeling, full houses, additions, patch and repair. I am proficient in all aspects of drywall hanging and finishing as well as many different textures as well as painting. I am very easy to get along with and really listen to what the needs of the job are so making a plan that will be satisfying to the home owner.

"Terrific work! Mike is very detail focused and thorough - clean edges and smooth paint, nothing sloppy about it. He filled and repaired a hole (about 4") in the drywall and many other nicks and scratches before painting. He filled in cracks between the trim pieces before painting as well. He was very neat and cleaned thoroughly after he was done. He did more than we expected, including painting the inside of our front door because he could tell it needed it. He was very friendly and gave us helpful painting tips for the areas we are going to paint ourselves. I was initially nervous to hire a painter because I am very picky about things being done neatly and I have seen too many sloppy paint jobs, but Mike was more picky about it than I was! He got great quality paint for the walls, and I appreciated that he was willing to use paint we already had for the trim. We will definitely call him again for any painting we need to have done!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

While fumigation chemicals cannot pass through solid objects, they will seep into any openings in walls, doors, or other closed spaces. This allows them to get into tight places where pests may be hiding and causing damage, like termites ruining the foundation of your home. It also means that your home needs to ventilate for 48 hours before returning to ensure that no harmful chemicals remain in your space.

Whether you can reuse a drywall anchor depends on its type, material, and how it is removed. Plastic anchors, such as expansion or self-drilling types, are generally considered single-use because they are designed to expand and are likely to break or become deformed upon removal. Metal anchors, like toggle bolts, are more durable and can often be reused if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle mechanism can fall inside the wall when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged or must be cut for removal, it cannot be reused regardless of its material.

You can drywall an unheated garage because the material handles cold temperatures perfectly well. There are no risks or downsides to installing drywall in a garage that is not heated, and the material stands up to moisture and other elements quite well. Drywall will protect your unheated garage's electric wires and cables and add fire protection. However, for effective bonding, you should install drywall at a temperature of 55 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.

While you can put new drywall over old drywall, it’s not always the best option. In some cases, drywalling over drywall can make it harder to find wires and pipes behind your walls and conceal more serious problems with your walls. It can also make the room smaller. On the plus side, putting drywall over drywall can improve soundproofing and insulation. Plus, it’s often less expensive than tearing down and adding new drywall.

Vinegar and bleach are effective options for removing mold from drywall. Vinegar is a better choice if you have a smaller mold issue while bleach is best if you have a larger mold problem. If the area you're cleaning has limited ventilation, using vinegar would be a better option. In that case, you could mix vinegar with baking soda to remove more stubborn mold growth.
