"I just canâ t say enough about the quality and service we received from Toastyâ s Heating & Cooling in Farmington Hills! We hired them to install a new furnace and A/C and their professionalism, pricing, workmanship and work ethic was truly exceptional. Even the city inspector was impressed! The team of Dale, Shane and Howard are a delight to work with. Calls are promptly answered by Dale. A breath of fresh air!"

"Joe was fantastic in resolving these repairs at my mother's 100 year old house. Working through a federal program for funding, Joe provided the estimate quickly and within budget. He was able to find era-appropriate flooring for the porch. He also installed much safer handrails on the steps up from the street to the porch and corrected the unsafe side entry by installing a sturdy platform and step. I will hire him for any of the items I need done at mom's or my house. Thanks Joe and crew."

"Got the whole package for LESS than the price of JUST the roof quoted from another company. We loved their competitive pricing. Roof looks great. Installs were scheduled quickly. An energy audit was included and qualified us for extra rebates! Bonus! Happy customer!"

"I purchased a Big Deal for 4 hours for $99.00. The deal expired, but Terry Harder agreed to extend the deal for me. He sent 2 men to install the crown molding. They did an excellent job. Everything was well done. They were a little late in arriving but called me twice to make me aware. I'm totally satisfied and highly recommend them. Terry was also a pleasure to deal with.

Nest Installation questions, answered by experts

It may be better to have a mouse in your house than a rat. Rats are larger, more aggressive, and more difficult to eradicate once settled. One rat can cause more damage than one mouse. However, both animals pose a danger in that they can spread bacteria and contaminate food, so you’ll want to contact an exterminator as soon as you detect an infestation of either animal.

Technically, yes, chinch bugs can fly. However you won’t usually see them in flight. Chinch bugs like to stick close to the ground and they usually move around by hopping or crawling (which is why they can be hard to see). Since they don’t get much chance at flying, they’re pretty bad at it and only fly for short distances—like to nearby yards.

One of the most widespread chemicals used for killing termites is Fipronil. It’s one of the most common insecticides used by termite exterminators to kill termites fast. However, it’s toxic and generally used in outdoor areas only. Popular brand names of termite killers include Taurus, Bifen, Termidor, and BioAdvanced. All insecticides have pros and cons: Some are safer around humans but don’t last as long. Some may kill nearby plants or have power odors. Some are designed for safe indoor bait stations but take much longer to work.

High-frequency bird repellent devices are effective at driving away birds, which is their intended purpose. However, these devices also tend to have unintended negative consequences. For example, if you or your neighbors own pets, the high-pitched noise emitted by these electronic devices will cause them distress and may even make them aggressive.

Setting up an animal trap in your yard largely depends on where you live and the type of critter you're dealing with. In many states, trapping nuisance animals like squirrels, rats, or raccoons is allowed, sometimes without needing a permit. However, certain wildlife species are protected, and not all states have lenient catch-and-release regulations.

Before placing a trap, check your local laws to avoid fines or other legal issues. Some areas allow DIY trapping, while others may require professional assistance. Most areas require a professional to relocate the animal once trapped. Consulting a pro ensures you handle the situation responsibly, humanely, and within the law.
