"The work was performed quickly. The employees were courteous. Work was started as planned and finished in two days. A supervisor came to our house after work was complete to check with us and on results. After all work was complete we did contact our project specialist with a few concerns. First, when cleanup around the home was complete, all of our mulch from flower beds was also removed along with debris. While we certainly appreciate the debris removal (especially nails), the cost to replace the mulch was pricey. Second, the dumpster in the driveway (one car driveway) was not removed for 3 days after the job was complete. We had gotten a significant snow fall and it was very difficult to shovel around and took up the only off-street parking spot we have. Finally, when we entered our attic in the spring to change a furnace filter we were dismayed to find tar paper, soot, and shingle pieces all over the attic - including all items stored up there. We have not yet found a solution to this problem as much of the debris covers the insulation. If this is a standard problem then we would have liked to know in advance.

"The salesman that came to the house and gave the quote was professional and did not apply any pressure to buy. He listened to what I was looking to have completed and was able to give me a very competitive quote. I did acquire two more quotes but Seal Tech provided me not only the better quote but also the most comfortable. The installers showed up on time, took precaution to protect our landscaping and installed the foam insulation. We noticed that the application in the walls have left our home much more comfortable and over the past three months our utility usage has gone down at least 10% each month.

"They did a great job with adding cellulose insulation to by exterior walls. We had some problems getting a hold of the salesman but nothing to complain about or stop us from recommending this company. Great value for the money."

"Very good. They take care of your appliances. They only charge my $75.00 per call, including the parts. They use refurbished parts most of the time. I would grade it basically to an B, I got the best one going according to most people. There is one in Colorado that will covers everything, but they are only located in Colorado. It can also take three days, or five days, it depends on the time of the year. With air conditioning, it can take more in the Summer time, because I am in Florida. Most of the time they are not that bad. The cover most of my major appliances, my washer, dryer, my pool. My daughter also uses the same company, they have done her washer, dryer, and air conditioner."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should insulate behind shower walls. Insulating helps prevent heat loss, which keeps the shower or tub from getting too cold and helps maintain a comfortable temperature in your bathroom. Additionally, proper insulation and air sealing can help prevent wall rot and moisture buildup. It is recommended to use a high R-value rated foam insulation combined with a vapor barrier.

A garage ceiling needs a vapor barrier if it’s a heated garage or if you’re installing insulation in the ceiling. Without a vapor barrier, you risk moisture issues and mold growth. If you have an unheated garage and don’t plan on installing insulation that could get wet and harbor mold, the ceiling doesn't need a vapor barrier.

Unfaced wall insulation is easier to cut and install, making it the better choice for a DIY project. It’s also more affordable. But if it’s unfaced, you’ll likely need to add a vapor barrier to reach your desired R-value and efficiency, as it doesn’t offer any moisture barrier.

Faced insulation uses paper or foil to create a built-in barrier and doesn’t require an extra step. It’s also more fire-resistant and safe. But it’s quite a bit more expensive and a little bit harder to work with as a DIYer.

For a DIY solution to protect an outdoor faucet from freezing, you can craft a cover using spare rags, a durable plastic bag, and duct tape. However, be aware that this method may not be as effective as a store-bought cover. Fabric like rags or old towels can absorb water, which could freeze and cause problems. While a DIY cover can work as a temporary stopgap, a proper outdoor faucet cover is inexpensive (often $5 or less), easy to install, and readily available, making it the recommended long-term solution.

DIY installation is not recommended, as professionals ensure even distribution, proper sealing, and compliance with building codes.
