"Knowledgeable, hardworking, friendly and professional folks. They did a terrific job with our added attic insulation and explained each step. Also answered all my questions and sent photos of the work. Cleaned up afterwards too."

"They did a great job and were very professional.  The old insulation was put in a dumpster and most of it stayed in it.  Was very pleased with their work.

"I am very pleased with my new windows. I used Home Genius Exteriors to do my roof, gutter protection, and now Windows. This is an absolute amazing company, my salesman brendan was very helpful, Devan the Project Manager helped make sure everything went smoothly. Walter and Mike also from production were very friendly and professional. And Shawn, the window installer was polite, knowlagable, and efficient. And even cleaned up on his way out. Next on the agenda is to get a new door taken care of. Highly recommend HGE"

"Process of the estimate and installation was seamless. The Project Specialist was extremely professional and answered all of my questions as well as addressed future unforeseen concerns that others did not have the knowledge nor experience to answer. I just cannot express what a difference one individualâ  s knowledge and expertise can make or break a deal. I have already referred not only Integrity Home Exteriors to my cohorts but Phil Kraus if they planning any renovations to their home. Phenomenal job!!!!"

"I received 3 bids for blown cellulose attic insulation, and Metro Detroit Insulation was significantly cheaper using the same quality product. The Installation crew arrived on time and were very professional. They protected my carpeting with plastic throughout the traffic area, installed the product, cleaned up and were gone in around two and a half hours. I have noticed a huge difference in noise reduction, my home cools quickly and maintains the temperature much longer. My only regret is not getting this done sooner. I would highly recommend this company to my friends and family."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

A vapor barrier keeps moisture out of the crawl space, while insulation reduces the amount of unconditioned air—and sometimes moisture—that enters the space. Coupling a vapor barrier with insulation can help prevent humidity and related moisture damage in a crawl space while also making your home more energy-efficient. Just be sure to use insulation that won’t get damaged from moisture, like rigid foam board or expanding spray foam insulation.

The primary reason that insulation saves you money over time is that it reduces your energy bills by making your home more energy efficient. A crucial part of an insulation system is a properly installed vapor barrier. Local building codes dictate whether your insulation requires a vapor barrier based on the type installed. While some high-quality wool insulation may not technically need a vapor barrier, most municipalities still require one to meet code.

Drywall insulation costs around $1,800, on average, but prices can range from $500 to $4,500, depending on a few different factors. The following things are important considerations to make when pricing out your insulation project:

  • Square footage of insulation

  • Type of insulation

  • Climate in your area and the insulation R-value required

  • Whether or not your walls are already finished

  • Accessibility of the area

  • Whether or not you need old insulation removed first

Yes, eco-friendly blown-in insulation options include materials made from recycled cellulose or wool. These offer excellent thermal performance and sustainability, reducing energy consumption and environmental impact while enhancing home efficiency.

Structural insulated panels and rigid foam boards have the highest R-value of any insulation that contractors commonly use, with R-values reaching up to around 8.0. These types of insulation are best in extremely cold climates, but they’re generally preferred for new construction, as they can be challenging to retrofit. Blown-in and loose fill insulation provide the next best insulative value, provided the installation is done properly. It’s important to choose an insulation type that meets your needs based on climate, as maximizing R-value may not always be financially worthwhile if you live in a moderate climate.
