"Everything went well from my initial phone call to the completion of the project. The person I spoke with first at WaterWork Plumbing was very polite and efficient. She was able to give me a service appointment the next day. She called prior to the plumbers' arrival and the plumbers' arrived within the stated time period. All work was done efficiently and within the stated timeframe. Will definitely recommend and use WaterWork Plumbing again."

"I had called Pipey when I had an emergency leak under my sink. I got a call immediately within minutes and they gave me an appointment. I got a text that my appointment was confirmed. The team of two came in, they were very courteous and respectful. Since we don’t like have anyone wear shoes in our home they took them out and performed the work quickly and cleanly. Didn’t leave any trash behind for us. While they were there, I asked them to check a couple of additional things and they gave on the spot estimates. Work was clean overall and price was reasonable. I paid them using my phone which was also very convenient for me. Overall, it was a great experience."

"I hired Advanced Plumbing to fix some pipes in my basement that had been installed wrong by the previous guy. Joel did a fantastic job and he even charged me less than he had quoted because it didn't take him as long as he thought it would. I would definitely hire him again!"

"I highly recommend Brock Mechanical for your plumbing needs. They provided a quick response to my immediate need for a leaking hot water heater replacement. Ken (plumber installer) was very professional both in his appearance and work ethic. Install was completed and area was left cleaner than when job started. Doug was very willing to work with me and the cost came in less than expected. Very pleased with the entire process from start to finish."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Homeowners often overlook the strict permit requirements for plumbing in Commerce. You must secure proper approvals before beginning work. Additionally, residents underestimate how quickly hard groundwater damages new fixtures if water treatment systems are absent. Scheduling local professionals during peak spring and fall seasons requires significant lead time. Finally, connecting to municipal water or upgrading a septic system involves strict setbacks and extensive reviews before installation begins.

Helpful?

Watch for orange staining, sulfur odors, or sudden cloudiness in your well water, as these indicate elevated iron or contamination. If your sump pump runs continuously during the spring thaw or is older than seven years, schedule a replacement. Inspect exposed pipes for freeze damage after harsh MI winters. Furthermore, replace any deteriorating galvanized steel or polybutylene pipes in older homes to prevent severe water damage.

Helpful?

Lakefront properties in Commerce present unique challenges for plumbing, particularly with high water tables and seasonal groundwater shifts complicating below-grade work. Older homes built before the 1980s feature deteriorating galvanized steel or polybutylene pipes that require full replacement. Additionally, homes relying on private wells face accelerated pipe scaling from hard water and high iron content. Always bury water service lines below the 42-inch frost depth to prevent freezing.

Helpful?

Start by testing your well water for hardness, iron, and bacteria to determine your specific treatment needs. Next, inspect your sump pump and install a battery backup system to prevent basement flooding during spring storms in Commerce. Hire a local professional to identify and replace outdated pipe materials. Finally, winterize outdoor hose bibs and exposed pipes before the first hard freeze to protect your new property.

Helpful?

Use PEX piping for interior water supply lines, as it resists freezing and scale buildup from hard MI groundwater. For underground service lines buried below the 42-inch frost depth, select durable copper Type K or high-density polyethylene. Install PVC for all new drain and vent systems. Finally, choose cast iron or stainless steel housings for your sump pump to withstand the heavy usage required in high-water-table areas.
