"Tuesday September 28th, 2021 Nobody does it better than KT Clean, owned & operated by Kathryn Mills. My wife has our home and offices in Midland Michigan cleaned and maintained by KT Clean & we are more than completely satisfied. So much so, that our adult & married children also use KT Clean for all of their cleaning needs. In addition to general housekeeping our family has enjoyed the benefits of the great deep cleaning that occasionally needs to occur; rug cleaning along with pre & post event cleaning. I would describe the work performed by KT Clean as "Intelligent Cleaning." What do I mean by that? The KT Clean Staff carefully listened to what my wife told them she wanted cleaned & maintained and they never missed anything, ever. Above and beyond that they do what needs to be done, better than we would do it ourselves. The staff at KT Clean are honest, trustworthy & are experienced capable & innovative cleaners. Nobody does it better than these professionals. Having our home & offices cleaned by KT Clean is the greatest luxury that my wife & I do for each other each week. We love it & you will also. Kathryn Mills KT Clean is the best of the best. If you want a reference call me in Midland at 989-488-4605 or on my cell phone at 937-430-5491 anytime. Bud Burdzinski"

"The original project was done adequately. However while doing a 20ft hydojet clean out and camera inspection for an additional $900. We were told that for $2500 more we should replace the 5-6 ft caste iron pipe that was left between both ends of the PVC sewer pipe. And to replace 20ft septic line to confirm proper pitch would be about $6500. We had a second opinion and had the complete line dug up, re-pitched and replaced for $1500. Also the 5-6 ft caste iron pipe was actually only 2ft long and was next to the PVC line and clean out that Mr Rooter replaced. So could have been corrected easily while they were performing the original repair. Since they had service advisors who could come out the same day. The project was urgent enough to eliminate second opinions. So do not know what a competitive price would be but the additional recommendations and charges were very high."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, sewage smells can originate from a floor drain. If the P-Trap in the floor drain dries out or if there's a clog or other issue in the plumbing system, sewer gasses can escape through the drain, causing nasty odors. Regularly pouring water into the drain helps maintain the water seal and prevent those smells, but if the smell persists, you should have a plumbing professional inspect the drain for potential problems.

When hiring a sewer line company, you need to consider more than just the quoted price. Make sure to check that the company or contractor is licensed, certified, and insured to protect you both. Check for positive reviews, and you can even request references for extra peace of mind.

To find the best contractor, you might also want to consider how long the company has been in business doing sewer line cleaning and if they’ve won any industry awards for their work and service. Review potential contracts closely, and look for transparent pricing.

You should not attempt to snake your sewer yourself. Accessing and snaking your sewer requires heavy-duty equipment, and while renting is possible, misusing it can damage your sewer main and leave you with very expensive repair costs, not to mention potential environmental issues and severe water damage. Accessing your sewer also exposes you to hazardous sewer gasses, and failing to seal the sewer properly after work can be very dangerous. It’s always best to hire a professional sewer cleaner near you to handle this type of work.

The cost to unclog a drain varies based on the location and severity of the clog. For simple clogs within your home, such as in a sink, toilet, or shower, hiring a plumber typically costs between $110 and $350, with an average of around $200. Snaking a toilet or sink usually costs between $110 and $275, while a bathtub or shower clog costs about $225.

For a more serious clog in the main sewer line, the cost is higher. Clearing a main line clog generally costs between $200 and $600, with an average of about $380. However, prices can range from as low as $100 for snaking a minor clog to over $1,600, particularly if advanced methods like video inspection and hydrojetting are needed for a large or hard-to-reach blockage. Some severe main line clogs can cost upwards of $1,000 to clear depending on factors like the cause of the clog, its distance from an accessible cleanout, and whether the pipe is located beneath an occupied space (e.g., in an apartment building). You may be able to save money on minor clogs by using a drain snake or bladder yourself.

Cat pee has a strong ammonia-like smell, so if you smell cat pee but don’t have a cat or don’t suspect your cat has any accidents, there could be other issues at hand. Aside from pet urine, your house may smell like cat pee from leaking freon from an old fridge, mold, spilled cleaning supplies, or even outside odors from nearby farms.
