"The team had such a lack of regard and care for my home and personal belongings, that I am actually extremely concerned about the parts of the job that I cannot see behind the walls and in the attic. The team did not clean, move, cover anything as promised by the sales team and advertised on the website. Many of my kids toys, wagons, strollers, and some tools were ruined. Some of the toys were thrown out and I spent hours cleaning and scrubbing my garage. The application of the foam itself was also a disaster. The foam leaked through the recessed cans and into the bathroom fans, since they were not appropriately covered. There was full material on my carpet in the bedrooms. The fans had to be replaced. The company did ultimately repair the drywall in the garage, but cannot replace the hours of work I personally had to do in cleaning up their mess, and fixing the light cans, bathroom fans, cleaning the carpet."

One of the disadvantages of soffit vents is they can bleed warm air from the attic during winter, resulting in slightly higher energy bills and a colder house. Selling a house with spray foam insulation can be challenging due to concerns about improper installation or its compatibility with the home's structure. If not applied correctly, spray foam can cause issues such as moisture buildup, cracking, or damage to wiring and plumbing. If the insulation didn't cure correctly, there are also flammability concerns. Removing or repairing this type of insulation can pose risks as well.

In addition to adding insulation to your attic, you may want to add a radiant barrier. A radiant barrier works by using reflective material, such as foil, on the attic floor. As heat penetrates the roof and enters the attic, the radiant barrier reflects the heat upward and back through the roof. If you receive a lot of direct sunlight on the roof, using both a radiant barrier and insulation in your attic can provide significant benefits.

While adding insulation can be beneficial, there is too much of a good thing. Too much insulation can seal your house to the point where it can't release moisture that enters it—essentially trapping water vapor inside. Warm, humid climates are extra susceptible to mold from moisture issues, but homes in colder climates can experience condensation from an air-tight home when freezing temperatures thaw.

The best way to reduce heat upstairs is to release it by opening a window. Hot air rises, and if you can create some airflow by opening a window upstairs and also one on a lower level, the hot air should be pushed out of the home. Remember that fans pointing out the window do a much better job of circulating air than fans pointing into the home.
