"Hired Mower Doctor a couple of weeks ago to replace a belt on my Cub Cadet tractor. They were timelyonly a few days between the time I set up appointment and them coming out) and Liam called and told me the what was going on. They took payment over phone & my former repair place had me on a long waiting list. Well thanks to Mower Doctor the grass has been cut twice(Liam sharpened the blade) and they will be called when needed. Love the fact they come to the house and you're not paying a huge pickup fee."

Mobile Mower Repair is a full service repair shop ON WHEELS capable of anything that a traditional repair shop offers. We not only offer repairs done at your home, we also have a shop located at 1535 Baker Rd., Dexter, MI. 48130 for drop off repairs.

"I hired them in 2014. I paid them a little late but I did pay them, in person because I also returned a Universal John Deere Key that was left in my mower's ignition. Now FOUR YEARS LATER I get a notice from a collection agency that I owe them almost $300.00. I call them and am told that they don't show it paid. I ask when the last notice that they sent me was mailed to me and they can't tell me because they don't keep track of notices. The person who handles notices says that he knows he has not sent me one since he began a year ago. I say that I have not received a notice in four years because it was paid. When I said I paid in cash they said that they have had problems with employees taking cash payments so maybe it was stolen! You have to wonder what may get stolen from your property? Don't pay cash to this company. Don't toss out proof of payment for years! Because four years after service and payment in full you too maybe wrongfully sent to collections and extorted for a double payment. Before this I thought highly about this business but knowing how out of control their record keeping is and possible theft issues from employees I would not hire again nor want them on my property if I were not there."

Lawn Tool Repair questions, answered by experts

Ann Arbor’s frequent rain and clay-rich soil can cause grass buildup under mower decks, increasing rust risk. Homeowners should plan for extra cleaning and consider rust prevention treatments. The city’s fluctuating spring temperatures can affect battery performance, so testing or replacing batteries before the season starts is wise. Booking repairs before peak grass growth ensures timely blade sharpening and tune-ups.

Helpful?

In Ann Arbor, a frequent mistake is neglecting to sharpen mower blades after hitting rocks or roots common in local yards, which leads to uneven cuts. Homeowners sometimes overlook spark plug replacement, causing hard starts. Attempting engine maintenance without proper tools or skipping regular deck cleaning can also result in long-term damage, especially given the area’s variable moisture and grass types.

Helpful?

Be wary of quotes that skip details about blade sharpening or engine diagnostics, as these are essential for Ann Arbor’s conditions. If a professional avoids discussing local soil effects or doesn’t ask about your mower’s recent use, that’s a concern. Reliable providers should offer clear timelines, explain their repair process, and provide written documentation for all work performed on your equipment.

Helpful?

In Ann Arbor, effective lawn mower maintenance includes regular blade sharpening to handle thick local grass, cleaning the deck after each use to prevent rust, and checking the drive system for debris. Replace spark plugs and inspect belts at the start of the season. During peak mowing months, lubricate moving parts and monitor for vibration, which can signal hidden issues with the cutting system.

Helpful?

Before beginning repairs in Ann Arbor, inspect your mower for signs of oil leaks or belt wear and photograph any visible issues. Make a list of recent performance problems, like stalling or uneven cutting. Schedule service before the spring rush, and confirm that your chosen repair shop stocks parts for your mower’s make and model. Ask about turnaround times and any seasonal maintenance recommendations.
