Customers say: True professional

"Very professional and efficient. I felt that communication was clear, and he made sure that I was 100% happy with the job before he left. Everything was explained clearly to me from start to finish, and he guided me on purchasing my EV charging box. I would definitely hire Jeff again for any future electrical work."

"Mike was super responsive and very helpful when picking out a new thermostat for our heated floor. The two electricians that came to the house to install the thermostat and a new chandelier were prompt, courteous, and great to work with. We will definitely be recommending Payne Electric to others and look forward to working with them again."

"Josh is fair and very responsive with his crew of interchangeable professionals who are prompt and professional. My project was a huge undertaking across four apartments involving exterior panel installations and a complete rewiring of the entire building. I worked with about 6 of his crew members spanning months without any meaningful complaint and would depend on them for all my future electrical endeavors. His pricing is very fair for the quality of work you get."

Small jobs welcome

"After one of the snowstorms we had this last winter, we found ourselves without electricity. A tree had fallen across our power line, ripping the electric meter off the house and hurling it across the lawn. Perhaps it is needless to say that we felt like the helpless prey of the Universe. On the advice of a friend, we called C. B. Electric. This company proved to be fast and reliable. Their charges were reasonable. They were polite, really nice and reassuring people. They told us when they would be here, and they came when they said they would, which was only a day or two later. They immediately started a search for a replacement meter. When they got that, their work was fast and was performed with what I like to call "snappy exactitude." We absolutely could not have been better pleased. Electricians just don't get better than this."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, combining electrical projects with other home improvements in Windham can be highly efficient. For example, if you’re remodeling your kitchen or bathroom, updating your home wiring or adding circuits while walls are open minimizes disruption and streamlines inspections. Coordinating with your electrical contractor during larger renovations can also reduce permit processing time and help ensure your upgrades meet local code requirements.

Helpful?

Before starting electrical work in Windham, confirm which permits and inspections are required for your project. Schedule these in advance, as processing times may vary, especially during peak seasons. If your project involves service upgrades or outdoor wiring, contact utility providers early. Always consult a licensed electrical contractor to assess your home’s needs and plan for potential delays due to rural delivery schedules or seasonal weather impacts.

Helpful?

Windham’s cold winters and frequent storms can complicate electrical projects, especially those involving exterior wiring or underground installations. Frozen ground and limited daylight can slow progress and affect material performance. For optimal results, schedule major electrical work between late spring and early fall. Consider installing surge protection or a standby generator to safeguard your home wiring against power outages, which are common during Maine’s ice storms.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Windham should consider the area’s rural landscape, which may mean fewer available electrical contractors and longer wait times for appointments. If your property is near Sebago Lake, prioritize waterfront electrical safety and ensure all outdoor outlets are weatherproof. Rocky soil can complicate underground wiring, so discuss site conditions with your contractor. Explore Maine’s energy efficiency rebates to offset upgrades and boost your home’s value in the local market.

Helpful?

In Windham, prioritize immediate electrical repairs if you notice warning signs like persistent flickering lights, burning odors, buzzing outlets, or frequent circuit breaker trips—these can signal serious safety risks. Address any home wiring or code violations before colder months, especially for heating systems. Upgrades like new lighting fixtures or extra outlets can be scheduled for spring or summer, when weather conditions make electrical contractor work easier and safer.
