"I could not have been more pleased with Payne Electrical! From the scheduling to the installation, everyone I worked with was incredibly professional and made the whole process easy. I had two ceiling fans and a light fixture installed. The two electricians that came to my house were prompt and incredibly courteous, and very thorough in their work. They were also super kind about my small dog that wanted to keep barking at them... I would highly suggest this company to anyone in the metro Boston area, and will definitely be calling them for any future electrical needs!"

"IGM electric installed a breaker box at my house. They communicated everything as to how long we would be without power. Everything was done in a professional way. I would definitely recommend IGM Electric."

Small jobs welcome

"I hired Bill to change a 15amp outlet to a 20amp. The job was more in depth than I anticipated because of the distance from circuit breaker to outlet location and the need for new wiring. We discussed discussed other location possibilities, but Bill was confident he could complete the job as I had planned. He did so with absolute confidence and professionalism. Much appreciated!"

Small jobs welcome

"After one of the snowstorms we had this last winter, we found ourselves without electricity. A tree had fallen across our power line, ripping the electric meter off the house and hurling it across the lawn. Perhaps it is needless to say that we felt like the helpless prey of the Universe. On the advice of a friend, we called C. B. Electric. This company proved to be fast and reliable. Their charges were reasonable. They were polite, really nice and reassuring people. They told us when they would be here, and they came when they said they would, which was only a day or two later. They immediately started a search for a replacement meter. When they got that, their work was fast and was performed with what I like to call "snappy exactitude." We absolutely could not have been better pleased. Electricians just don't get better than this."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

To enhance safety in your Gorham home, install tamper-resistant outlets in living areas and GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms. AFCI breakers can help prevent electrical fires, especially during dry winter months. Ensure all outlets are properly grounded and use weatherproof covers outdoors. Adding whole-home surge protection and emergency lighting can further protect children and pets during unexpected power fluctuations.

Helpful?

In Gorham, flickering lights during storms, frequent breaker trips, or outlets that feel warm can indicate underlying electrical issues. If you notice burning odors, outlets sparking, or GFCI outlets that won’t reset, these are serious warning signs. Dimming lights when appliances start up may also signal overloaded circuits. Addressing these problems early can help prevent more extensive electrical repairs and keep your home safe.

Helpful?

Before starting electrical projects in Gorham, confirm you have all required permits and plan for necessary inspections. Contact your utility provider if you’re considering a service upgrade. Check with your neighborhood association for any specific guidelines. Schedule work ahead of winter to avoid weather-related delays, and research available energy efficiency rebates to help offset costs and streamline your project planning.

Helpful?

In Gorham, homeowners are prioritizing smart home features like automated lighting, smart switches, and programmable thermostats. Energy-efficient upgrades, such as LED fixtures and motion-sensor lighting, are also in demand due to local energy costs. Many are adding EV charging stations, upgrading to 200-amp panels, and installing backup generators to handle power outages, especially during harsh winter months, making homes more resilient and future-ready.

Helpful?

If your Gorham home is over 20 years old, or you’re planning renovations, it’s wise to schedule an electrical inspection. Adding new appliances like heat pumps or EV chargers often requires panel upgrades. Frequent outages or uneven power in different rooms are also signs it’s time for professional attention. Scheduling projects before winter helps avoid emergency repairs and ensures your electrical system is ready for seasonal demands.
