"Chimney experts was very professional in both scheduling and the job. Al was very thorough to not only look at the chimney, but also to stay with me until we had fully built a fire and had it burning long enough to run a full test of the appliance.
Would highly suggest for inspection and installation- they know the business well."
"First rate work by everyone who came to the house. Every member of their staff we met was a consummate professional. Exceptional job setting up staging on a sloped to reach the chimney for external repairs and for installation of the intake and exhaust pipes for the new gas fireplace insert they installed. Gas and electrical work were perfect. Installation of the unit itself was terrific. Really enhanced the appearance of the den and GREATLY improved the energy efficiency over the open gas fire logs we replaced. Took extraordinary care to clean up the worksites and very patiently explained the controls for the new unit. Cannot recommend them strongly enough."
"Wow! Amazing service. I must've called 8 different places in a panic trying to get the brick mounts which hold the mantel removed from my old fireplace so the surface could be prepped for a new TV. Seemed like an easy task (I thought), but it was a little more meticulous than I thought. I called this team and they arrived same day! Incredible customer service and expertise. Not only did they return the day after providing an estimate and remove the brick mounts, they actually re-fabricated the brick to make the holes disappear! This team knows their stuff!! I was so impressed that in the Spring I'd like them to come and do some masonry work for me. Highly recommend. They really are committed to doing good work and meeting the needs of their customer Special thanks for seeing to my issue before my TV install. We are ready for the Superbowl!!"
"Project title is not the work performed - work was installing chimney cap. Rene of R&J Quality, LLC was extremely responsive (within 15 minutes) to my request to have a new chimney cap installed after the existing one had blown off due to extreme rust and age. From my vantage point on the ground, the second chimney cap appeared to be intact. He agreed to install the cap the next day even though there was snow and ice on the roof. Due to additional snowfall on the day of install, we agreed to reschedule for his safety on the roof. Two days later Rene came and installed the chimney cap despite there still being snow on the roof. He arrived at my home at the time he promised. He was very friendly and started working immediately. He took photos of the missing and exiting chimney cap. After examining the exiting cap, he showed me that it was also very rusty and that it would eventually need to be replaced. I appreciated him telling me about the condition of the existing cap. He did not try to hard sell me a new cap but rather was bringing the condition of the exiting cap to my attention. I thought it wise to have the other cap upgraded and replaced while he was here. I was very impressed with Rene and the work he performed. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing chimney work done. The cost of the two caps and labor was very fair and reasonable. If you want someone who is responsive, reliable, professional and fair, call Rene of R&J Quality, LLC."
"David was responsive and great to work with. Our job was quoted and completed within a week. The install was easy and we are pleased with the results. Highly recommend!"
"Their response was relatively quick, however, I was told the proximity between the company location (as noted on the site as Bowie Md - both in PG County) and my home in Temple Hills Md was too far."
"We got the recommendation for Custom Works Inc. from a friend that had a deck built. It was a great experience from start to finish and we are really happy with our new deck. They were quick to answer any questions and worked fast with installation. We would definitely recommend them for any deck work."
"THE TWO MAN TEAM ARRIVED ON TIME 8/2/17 THE DAY OF THE JOB AND FOUND OUT MISS UTILITY HAD NOT MARKED THE GROUND. THEY REMOVED THE TREES DOWN TO THE STUMPS. IT WAS ABOUT A 2 1/2 HOUR JOB. MS. U MARKED THE GROUND 2 DAYS LATER (FRIDAY). ON SUNDAY ONE GUY (NELSON) CAME AND FINISHED THE JOB. I DIDN'T GET A CALL THAT THEY WERE COMING AND LUCKILY I WAS HOME. HE TOLD ME ONE TREE WAS PLANTED OVER A GAS LINE SO HE COULD ONLY GRIND THE STUMP 2 INCHS BELOW GROUND. I WAS OKAY WITH THAT AS LONG AS IT DIDN'T SHOW. HE GAVE ME POINTERS ON ENSURING THE TREES SURVIVED, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THE WORST SOIL (MY WORDS). RIGHT NOW MY LAWN IS NOT LOOKING THE BEST, WITH THE STRAW AND SMASHED GRASS. BUT IT'S TEMPORARY. NELSON WAS PROFESSIONAL AND CLEANED UP THE YARD AND IT ONLY TOOK HIM ABOUT 2 HOURS. BALLARD ENTERPRISES WILL BE MYGO TO FOR ANY TREE SERVICE."
Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts
While your forced heating system runs, it can pick up dirt, dust, hair, and other particles from inside your house. Changing your furnace filters regularly is key to preventing this debris from getting stuck in your ducts and swirling around your home. With some types of furnaces, there’s also the potential for carbon monoxide leaks. However, staying up-to-date with your HVAC inspections and installing carbon monoxide sensors can help mitigate this risk.
Ensure you have a safe environment for them to work on, and there aren’t items such as logs, build-up of yard materials, missing or damaged shingles, and weak areas on the roof. Communicate any known electrical issues with contractors at the beginning of the project, and consider hiring an electrician to fix those. Finally, if you are attempting the project yourself, do so when there isn’t any rain, and you can safely get your footing on the roof using proper equipment, such as an extension ladder. Don’t attempt this alone, and have a helper nearby to assist.
You should schedule a fireplace inspection at least once a year, per the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). However, this is the minimum requirement even if you’re diligent with fireplace maintenance between uses. If you suspect your fireplace is malfunctioning, schedule one sooner to avoid fire hazards or the release of harmful emissions like carbon monoxide in your home.
Costs range from $500 to $5,000, depending on fire alarms, sprinklers, and safety equipment.
Yes, a hot or overheating outlet is a fire hazard and can cause a fire. An outlet becoming hot indicates an electrical problem, such as an overloaded circuit, loose connections, or a faulty component. The heat from these issues can ignite nearby flammable materials like curtains or furniture. If you notice an outlet is hot to the touch, turn off the power at the circuit breaker, unplug any connected devices, and consult a qualified electrician. If a fire does start, use a Class C fire extinguisher or baking soda to suppress it, or evacuate immediately and call the fire department.
