"Atlas Home Energy Solutions is the real deal. Shannon did a thorough energy assessment and recommended several improvements. I was only able to do the top recommendation, air sealing/insulating the attic and whole house ventilation, but that made a huge difference! J.P., Vaughn, and a team of techs did the work in one (very hot) day. I noticed the difference immediately. Now the upstairs is much cooler on hot days and the a/c isn't running as long as before the work was done. The Atlas team is awesome! At the earliest opportunity, I will do more of the recommended items to make my house more energy efficient and comfortable and I suggest you do the same :)"

"We are extremely satisfied with the whole process of our house being insulated. First we had the walls done, and then a couple weeks later we had our attic insulated. The crew were so nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. We are very satisfied with everything. Thank you, everyone."

"I hired Atlas Home Energy Solutions to remove old insulation and replace it with the foam technique. However, I ran into numerous unexpected problems due to a slow leak from old pipes. It took awhile to sort out. Atlas Home Energy Solutions gave me lots of expert advice. They were willing to come out and review the situation. They were also willing to reschedule and wait until another contractor dealt with the water issue and its ensuing problems. They helped me make some difficult decisions before they could insulate the crawl space. When it was ready for them to come and insulate the area they bumped their schedule forward to get it done. This company did sterling work. Their expertise and professionalism were outstanding. They really know what they are doing and guided me through a more protracted process than originally envisioned. I would highly recommend them to anyone."

"These guys were terrific! I hired them to install sound proofing insulation in our basement rec room ceiling. They did two layers of insulation including 1 layer of spray foam. Additionally they hung drywall which saved me a ton of time/money when it came to my general contractor. They were clean, on time, and respectful. They put down floor covering to protect my newly refinished hardwood floors. I would definitely hire this company again! Price was right and so was the service!"

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Choose a drill bit that is the size of the screws of the anchors you will use. You aren’t drilling through metal or concrete—hopefully—so any standard twist, wooden or all-purpose drill bit will work fine. It’s also important to have a screwdriver capable of drilling through the drywall and into the stud. The good news is most available drills, even the older ones, can do this with no issue.

Drywall is safe to cut as long as you follow proper procedures, such as wearing personal protective equipment and using the right tools to score and cut the drywall. When cutting new drywall, it can release dust with silica and other compounds that could pose health risks. Leave cutting drywall to the pros, or wear a high-quality respiratory mask, goggles, and other PPE when handling drywall.

To hide drywall edges, you need to properly apply drywall tape and multiple layers of joint compound. These materials hide the seams between drywall sheets and fill the holes from drywall screws, leaving behind a smooth, flat finish to paint over. Apply joint compound smoothly, and finish the job by sanding the walls to make sure you fully hide drywall edges and other imperfections.

While certain types of textured walls can seem dated (looking at you, popcorn), textured walls are a common sight in both older and more modern homes. The main reason textured walls may be here to stay is that they are an excellent way to hide minor imperfections on a wall and give it a finished appearance. Some homeowners think a coat of paint on drywall is a bit industrial-looking. However, that look works perfectly in modern home design

You can put drywall mud over paint to even out the surface or entirely resurface it. Sand the surface with 280-grit sandpaper, vacuum the debris and dust with a shop vac, and clean it with a slightly damp cloth. Allow the surface to dry. Apply drywall primer, especially if you’re skim-coating an entire wall. Apply the right type of drywall mud over the surface and smooth it with a trowel. Allow the layer to cure fully, then sand it before applying another layer or painting it.
