"Home Genius exteriors came to our home and remodeled our Siding! They completely transformed our home from the way it looked before! We are happy with the results. The crew did a good job cleaning up and left it like they were never here. Thank you home genius for the hard work and we are excited to see the final product after our gutters go up!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Very professional and did a really good job removing dirt & mildew from the house. My pavers were covered with moss & very nasty... he made them look like the day they were laid. During our initial conversation, Shawn informed me that no up front money was necessary & he would send a bill after the work was completed to my satisfaction. Shawn arrived late morning to give estimate... since I am on the outer fringe of his service area & he was here & had the time, he offered to do the cleaning at that time. I was good with estimate & his explanation as to how he went about executing the power wash. Shawn proceeded to clean house, pavers, outside gutters & soffits. I’m a very satisfied customer."

"Not really what I expected ... we had a communications breakdown to start with and they showed up at the house unannounced at 8am on a holiday weekend. When we have had our gutters cleaned in the past, they normally would either sweep out or scoop out the gutters and then run water through them to cleanout the rest. This company just brought a leaf blower to get the job done. Considering the fact that I have a three story townhouse, who really knows how well they cleaned them out?"

Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Shingle granules can be cleaned out of gutters using a small scoop or a hose, depending on the quantity of granules and how much other debris is in your gutters. First, clear your gutters of leaves and other debris. This may remove granules in the gutters if they are mixed in with the debris. Use a plastic scoop to remove larger quantities of granules or a hose with a high-powered nozzle for smaller amounts, and collect and dispose of the granules once they’ve been removed.

Pressure washing isn’t the only way to clean your gutters. Use a hose and a long-handled brush if you aren’t afraid of a little elbow grease. Alternatively, set up a stable ladder and scrub by hand with a brush. It’s also possible to purchase gutter wand extensions for hoses or a gutter vacuum if you don’t mind the investment. These help clean thoroughly without you having to scale a ladder.

Yes, it is okay to knock down icicles yourself. Just make sure to take the proper safety precautions. If you’re not comfortable doing it yourself, contact a roofing professional.

Using less toilet paper is the easiest way to prevent future clogs. Also, avoid flushing sanitary products, thick paper towels, or hair down the toilet. If you’ve been using a brick in the tank to reduce the water used to flush the toilet, take it out immediately. Bricks will eventually fall apart and clog your toilet drain. Keeping your toilet lid closed also helps avoid future clogs.

Downspouts channel water from your roof and gutters into the ground following a specific route so water doesn’t accumulate around your house’s foundation. Without a downspout, the standing water will wash away material and disrupt the soil, leading to foundation erosion. The standing water will also form ice around your house during cold weather, causing a safety hazard.
