I am a certified HVAC Technician, and have worked as a Building Engineer with some of the top building management companies (Cushman and Wakefield, CBRE). I also worked with George Washington University as an Appliance Technician, the Port of New Orleans as a Plumber/Pipefitter, and with Norwegian Cruise Lines as a Marine Engineer/Motorman. "Everyone needs a little Terry's Home Repairs in their life. Our oven digital display snapped off and fell through the opening. I talked to an appliance contractor [before finding Terry's Home Repairs] and he indicated that the whole control board would need to be replaced (at a cost of $430). When I asked him if he could provide a refurbished control board or if he can just resecure the existing display back to the opening, his response was "modifications" is not something he would be willing to do. At this point I began doing some research. I located Mr. Terry on Angi's List and after reading reviews and discussing the problem with him over the phone I decided to move forward. He provided an exact time he would be at the home and showed up right on time (on a separate but related note, I am really sick and tired of the 'four hour window' provided by the larger contractors - I am busy as h*** and do not have time to block off four hours of my day). Upon arrival, Mr. Terry identified the issue and provided a new bracket to secure the oven display. While there, he also fixed the exhaust fan (over the range) and also fixed a dryer vent that was coming apart. His price was fair and his work was good. I will be using him moving forward for 'odds and ends' and random things around the home. I like his background (he worked as a mechanic on a cruise ship and also worked in Alaska on HVAC related projects)."

He gave us a detailed evaluation of the old system, and explained what needed to be removed. So there were no misunderstandings. He is clearly knowledgeable of the industry. He provided clear details of what could be done and gave us three alterative estimates. Our old house offered some challenges. When there were difficulties getting to the under-the-house crawl space wiring, then in removing attic aged equipment, he worked until the problems were solved. That took extra labor and I offered to pay more, but he was not going to charge more than the estimate he gave. I thought that to be very generous. Also on those hot days, he immediately brought in a window air conditioner to tide us over while the whole-house AC had to be shut off. That was great! In contrast the man giving the estimate from the larger company did not really look at our system, offered only one option that he suggested, and was not offering to remove old equipment that was in the attic area or the outside oil tank. Stumps gave us fast, honest, reliable and thoughtful service. We will continue to have them service our new system. I highly recommend them."
