Ned Steven's Gutter Cleaning - Maryland

Worst service! Last year the company persuaded me to get the annual program. The winter gutter cleaning took place by the end of February and the Spring cleaning in mid July - after the rain storms have already cleaned the gutters - and I had to clean the debris! It?s a pity that Winston cleaners was taken over by this awful company, Ned Stevens gutter cleaners in DC. The company charges for services performed so late in the season that they are not needed anymore. Lack of professionalism. Always pushing for repairs that are not needed. Stay away from this company!

Not so well. I've been a contract customer for a few years and, although they're often really late in the year with leaf-clearing, their crews have always picked up after themselves and I've been pleased with their service until now, They've been pressuring me for two years to power wash moss off my roof warning that it could contribute to the accumulation of dangerous moisture. This year I agree to it, and spent over $600 on it. They sprayed my roof on July 8, and by July 10 just about every plant in range of the roofline was damaged or dead: dead canna lilies, dead and damaged leaves on my crepe myrtle, a bleached section of the ilex shrub, blackened branch tips of the weigela bush, black and dead coneflowers, yellowed and dropped leaves of the rose of sharon, dead forsythia shoots, dead walnut sapling, brown hydrangeas, brown spots on lilacs, brown edges of the Norway Maple, etc. There had been no warning that this could happen! I would never have done it! I sent three emails, with attached photos of damaged plants, to customer service and made two phone calls, but there has been no official written response. One phone call did elicit a conversation with a question about what monetary response might make me happy. I replied that I wasn't in it for the money, I was heartbroken about my poor plants, and I wanted an apology. Another employee said they woud put $100 back on my credit card to buy new plants, but I don't know if that's actually happened. I don't even know exactly what chemicals they applied to my roof! I've canceled my annual contract. And I just hope that the damaged perennials will come back again next year. Watch out for these guys!

They are good at cleaning your gutters but will call you and send you mail for the rest of your life about how you need another service. They are also high pressure about getting things fixed that don't really need to be fixed.

It was good. They were professional and did a good job.

"They don't tell you when they are coming. They were cleaning and a little got on my neighbors home and knocked some stuff around (semi detached house)... they did fix that. They asked me for suggestion on how I wanted things done, which I thought was weird because they are the experts. They don't work with copper, and so they had to replace a copper piece and wouldn't allow me to keep the piece. They were nice, although at time I felt one of the guys didn't understand what I was trying to explain at times."

Very demanding and insistent. They wanted to charge me to make an appointment. They didn't do any work and they are charging us. I am very displeased.

They sent out workers to clean my back gutters, who didn't speak English at all. They started cleaning the front I tried to let them know it was the wrong gutters and they did not understand. Once they were done with the front they packed their stuff up and started to leave. I called the company to see if they had any Spanish speaking reps and they told me they don't call the workers when they are in the field. They had a good price for wrong work.

It went well but they aggressively upsell

well, the only issue was that it took them 4 or 5 days to come do the work it was well done and completed within the timeframe they gave me, just was too long of a timeframe excellent work though

He did a good job. He was very timely. The communication was good.

They did a great job. There is no more dripping and I am very pleased with their work. I would highly recommend them and I would use them again.

He did a great job and went above and beyond! He cleaned out a downspout that had been clogged for several years. They showed up on time and worked quickly and efficiently to get the job done. They were very polite and didn't charge anything extra!

They are very good, very professional, you don't have to be home, they will come and do their work. I looked at the ratings at several places and they have very good rating. I don't like the fact that they push their plans on you.

I have used them a couple of years ago and we signed up for their gutter cleaning plan and they would come out. They cleaned up our gutters once and they will come out every three months and clean up the gutters. The time they said that they would come to clean up the gutters, the gutters were already cleaned. They timed it so that when they were coming out there was nothing to clean out. So, we had stuff growing in our gutters and we would call him and we would say: "You know, you need to come and clean our gutters.", and they would say: "Well, we did it such and such time, and we are not coming out for another two months.". Well, that's not exactly what we want. We need somebody to clean out the gutter when the gutters are dirty not when they are cleaned. So, they timed it very poorly. I know that they do a lot of work in Northern Virginia. It was like a service for a year. They were always on time, it's just that it was the wrong time.

Ned Stevens Gutter Cleaning they are very organized, clean up was great, fast and hard working two guys.  The interaction was good.

We have recently used Ned Steven's Gutter Services and were very pleased.  They were very professional, great quality/value for the money, they were proactive in their work and were great with communication.  They were really clean when working and would definitely use again.

I was initially very interested in using Ned Stevens, and I even bought their diamond service, which basically means that they come out and clean my gutters about 6-8 times a year as well as offering discounts on major repairs and free minor repairs. I've found that if all you are doing is getting gutters cleaned, they do their work just fine, but the price they demand is quite steep for just gutter cleaning alone. I was looking for the "whole package" where I could get all  the help I needed if something went wrong with my gutters and they would be helpful and useful people to work with. After a few months of cleaning my gutters, I got a call from a representative at Ned Steven's saying that some of my gutters needed replacing. Oddly, the rep really couldn't explain what was wrong with them, and all he could do is give some vague location of where the issue was occurring and what it would cost to replace it. The price was a little outrageous, so the rep offered to lower the cost a bit, which I thought was odd because he initially told me that the original price was the actual cost of the items/labor. However, they assured me that I didn't need to have it done right away and that I could wait for a little while, which I opted to do because I wanted to hear what the actual gutter people thought about the problem. Then, one day, I get another call from them saying that ALL of my gutters needed to be replaced, which was very odd because the gutters were still relatively new. They wanted to use a super "thick gauge" gutter that's used on industrial buildings. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt that these new gutters might actually be necessary, but, again, they couldn't point out what was wrong with the gutters besides that they were "hanging too far inwards." Fortunately, the gutter people were still cleaning my father's house nearby, so I drove over there to talk to them. The workers were at a loss on how to explain what was wrong, but this may be due more in part on their ability to communicate in English. After another call from Ned Steven's reps, I was assured that even though the workers didn't speak English that I could always call their central office to find out exactly what was wrong. You would think I could just talk to the workers directly, but no, they don't know how to talk to you. I eventually found out that since my gutters were roof hanging gutters (which is superior to spiked gutters) that the workers were not "familiar" with how to clean them, and they therefore opted to replace them. I was absolutely floored. Replace my better gutters with inferior ones that they actually know how to clean? I called them up and they reassured me that the replacement was still necessary because the gutters were "hanging too far inwards," and they offered me a discount with my diamond plan of 10% off. I called some third party gutter companies to come by and look at my gutters, but they were mystified and couldn't see what was wrong with them. "If in fact the gutters are hanging too far in," they said, "then all you need to do with hanging gutters is simply adjust them more inwards, which is relatively easy to do. Regardless, we can't find anything wrong with how your gutters look as of now, so we feel no need to replace them. If you really do want to replace them, using the same high gauge gutters that Ned Steven's wants, here is a price that is even lower than with your additional diamond plan %10 off...."
Thankfully, I've left Ned Steven's. Most other lawn cleaning companies will clean your gutters for as little as $40 a visit as opposed to $120 that Ned Steven's charges. You also don't get these crazy sales tactics they try to do to squeeze more money out of you. Stay far far far away from these shady people.

Overall I would for sure use this company again... I was very pleased!

Cleaned gutters just fine. Left plastic bags of debris blocking a portion of the driveway. Montgomery County did not want to pick up the yard debris in plastic bags so I had to re-bag the debris. The high pressure sales tactics are unbelievable, they call and email constantly leaving ambiguous messages "that they found a problem.". If you make the mistake of calling them back, they try to sign you up for a service plan to have your gutters cleaned 4 or more times a year. I am so tired of the harassing phone calls and emails; we will not be using their service again. They also claimed to find a clogged exterior drain that we had paid them to repair on a previous visit.
