"I am having a truly unpleasant experience with 7th State Builders. I paid 14,450.00$ deposit in good faith. They were contracted to rebuild my deck, place a roof structure and screen on the deck. I trusted that they would complete the work. Instead, they took my money and one year later had not even started on the project. Not only did they fail to perform the agreed-upon services for the deck, but I was forced to hire an attorney to try and recover my deposit. Which I haven?t yet (over one year). Thus, creating unnecessary expenses to an already frustrating situation. I would strongly advise against using this company. Your St. Augustine grass might look bad due to cold winter months, drought, pest invasion, or lawn disease. The first step is properly identifying the problem. Once you’ve figured out what’s making your grass look bad, you’ll need to employ the correct treatments. These treatments may include:

It is not OK to cut grass after morning dew, as it can cause damage to your lawn, your mower, and you. Wet clumps of grass accumulate after the mow and can kill your grass or cause fungal disease. It’s best to wait until the grass is dry to the touch, usually two hours after morning dew.

Overwatering won’t just hurt your wallet with the water bill; it’ll impact the longevity of your lawn. 

Too much water on your grass will deprive the root system of oxygen, stunting its growth and even killing it. Stunted root growth means a weak and disconnected root system. That means the lawn is weaker, making it more vulnerable to diseases and drought.

Both zoysia grass and bermuda grass are somewhat similar to St. Augustine because they’re all warm-season grasses. Beyond that, most grass types have unique properties that set them apart. Zoysia grass costs twice the price of St. Augustine grass on average and it has thinner blades and a deeper green appearance. Bermuda grass, compared to St. Augustine, has much thinner blades, is softer to the touch, and has a higher tolerance for colder weather.

Every lawn is different, but mowing at least once a week is a good goal to stick to. If you’re seeing a lot of rain, or if you’re fertilizing your grass, you may need to mow as often as every four days. Either way, always follow the one-third rule: Never mow more than one-third of your grass height at once, as this can weaken it and prevent it from taking in all the proper nutrients from the soil.
