"I interviewed several contractors for my main bathroom remodel and chose VKB for their professionalism, design, and overall approach to the process. My objective was to have a large shower with a seat since the existing shower was the size of a phone booth and the bathroom configuration presented challenges. From the very first meeting with the design consultant, BURJU, I was impressed with her ideas and suggestions and her willingness to work within my established budget. She didn't recommend or suggest unnecessary or unwanted over the top items that would have blown my budget. Project manager, JASON, was on top of everything, stayed in touch with me almost daily, made sure I had all the correct cabinets and fixtures, provided me with his cell number, and asked each time if I had any questions. Last and certainly not least, MARVIN, the wonderful person who actually did all the nitty gritty hard work, worked nonstop to give me the bathroom of my dreams. I've never seen anyone work so hard and with the precision and perfectionism as he did. I absolutely love my new bathroom and would not hesitate to hire this team again. "Prompt service. Quoted a price of $800, which I thought was a little on the high side. I wasn't expecting to pay more than $500. The contractor said the price was higher because his workers would need to use extra safety gear due to the steep pitch of my roof. The workers showed up early the next day, went up to the roof with a ladder and began replacing shingles without any safety gear. The whole job took less than 30 minutes."

"I highly recommend City Renovations and Remodeling to new and experienced homeowners and investors. In fact, Mike Wiggs, owner of the company, was highly recommended to me from a trusted source. Mike has been my designer, general contractor and project manager for over three years. He and his team of subcontractors for all the trades and handymen have successfully completed numerous projects for me. The internal big jobs included Mike and his team remodeling my basement into a permitted apartment with an egress window, injection well system, and recessed lighting; remodeling my kitchen into a larger space, better layout and upgraded appliances, cabinets, backsplashes (e.g., switching from an electric cooktop island to a slide-in gas range and installing a peninsula); changing the location of the sliding door and a set of windows in my sunroom for better flow and sightline from the front door entry to the patio door leading to my wooded backyard; replacing the damaged one of the two HVAC systems (i.e., one for the first floor and basement and the other for the second floor); and whole house interior painting and decorative touches (accent walls, trim, etc.) The external big jobs included Mike and his team resolving the sources of severe water damage to my two-story front door entry area and installing a new door, side lites and stoop. He resolved other water problems at my house by installing upgraded, larger gutters connecting to a new underground drainage system, and re-grading a section of the backyard next to my house in order to better collect water coming onto the house and move it away from the house. The other jobs Mike and his team completed include installing decorative lighting in the front of my house and security lighting at the sides and back; installing and repairing wooden privacy fencing in my backyard; washing away years of mold, mildew and stains from the siding of my house; and installing shelving for two closets and the laundry room to increase my storage space. After years of City Renovations and Remodeling successfully improving or repairing my home, I hired the company to help me with an investment rental property. Mike completed a walk-thru assessment and report to supplement the information from the home inspector and appraiser. Through my pre-purchase consultation with Mike, I got a good idea of what it would take improve the property given my goals and budget. "We had a horrendous situation with a basement floor installation that went wrong leaving our house full of fumes, and a week later we discovered our basement was contaminated by asbestos in the process.  When we called Bill and Contractors Unlimited, they were extremely responsive.  Although other companies gave us bids, Bill was able to work his schedule to fit us in weeks sooner than the others.  Although the cost was a bit more, that saved us money because we were displaced and could not even go into our house because of the fumes.  CU set up negative air machines to replace the air, they followed asbestos abatement laws, they cleaned every item that could be salvaged in our house.  They even saved more than we thought which really reduced our overall expense.  Bill and his team were extremely professional, friendly, helpful, and really went out of their way to ease our stress from this situation.  At the end of their process, Bill arranged for a air quality inspection which we happily passed - able to return home.  I would gladly recommend Contractors Unlimited for asbestos abatement.  I just wish we had called them before the floor guys  created such a disaster.  Thank you Bill!

"Plumber they scheduled was on time, in identifying uniform, professional and did a great job. I was hoping a bigger issue didn't exist as the sink was backing up/ not draining water for several weeks. He also had the correct replacement part in his marked truck. Scheduling was efficient and faster than expected. Just thought the price was rather high for the work being asked done. I asked for the free estimate, and discovered price lists are established by company only once the plumber was onsite. Unfortunately, trying to get anyone else's opinion on such a small job was proving difficult because the risk of not doing the work once on site is not something that many will bother with doing in person.

"Rene responded to my request for and estimate with a prompt visit, and subsequent reasonable cost estimate.  Rene  listened and provided useful advice to help me make decisions.  Although the estimate and contract was signed in March, we agreed that the work would not begin until June.   Rene was ready on the agreed upon date
Painting: Rene's team arrived on time and ready to work.  Rooms were well prepared and the paint job and moulding installation was top notch.  Rene is a perfectionist and asked his workers to redo a section that to my untrained eye looked fine. They completed the work within the agreed upon time frame. Rene and his team (Jacob & ?) were professional, cordial, and helpful in decision making.
Handyman: Rene and Jacob replaced two closet doors, one of which was not an easy fix.
Julio is an excellent handyman who clearly takes pride in his work.  He did not waste time, and was able to complete the major items on my  "to do"  list in one day.
All in all working with Rene and Renaissace Restoration was the most pleasant experience I have had with a contractor.

"It turned out fine. I would use this contractor again.This one in particular I was worried that my garage door was I don't know how to fix what seemed very squeaky and like maybe some bolts and I was worried that the spring might be about to break. Basically, the guy felt guilty because there's nothing wrong with it, it was just missing a size and bolt. But, he gave it a check up that it needed and the part that fault, he threw in and that was it. So, I will get an annual check-up with him and go from there. The guy is local. He is courteous. He was well-mannered, decently dressed. He made me feel very comfortable being alone in a single family home. I feel comfortable with people being preselected or verified through Angie's List."
