"D&H Demolition quickly demoed the carpet from my living, dining , and steps to the second floor. Replaced with re- claimed hardwood flooring which resulted in a significant cost savings for me. Replaced the flooring and steps with a satin finish that so beautiful that I keep getting comments. Work was timely completed and professionally done. I would definitely use their services again. "The company was excellent they used all necessary clothing (booties on shoes, placed tarps on floor) not to soil any flooring. The gentleman was a perfectionist to remove stains from white modular sofa. He came back a few times until I was satisfied the stains were completely gone on my white sofa. They stand behind their work. I highly recommend this company."

Floor Cleaning and Waxing questions, answered by experts

You can use dish soap mixed with warm water to clean just about any type of flooring, and while vinegar is a great addition to some floor cleaners, it’s not a good idea to use it on wood flooring or engineered wood flooring. Vinegar is very acidic, and it can gradually eat away at the protective finish on wood floors. If you’re cleaning laminate, tile, concrete, or vinyl floors, feel free to use vinegar and water in a 1-to-1 ratio with a few drops of dish soap. For wood floors, substitute the vinegar for olive oil.

Yes, you can polish an existing concrete floor—as long as the slab is structurally sound and in good shape. In fact, that’s what makes this type of flooring upgrade so appealing. Polishing works best on bare concrete with minimal surface damage, although you can usually repair cracks and stains before the grinding and buffing begins. Instead of ripping out your existing concrete floor, polishing it can turn it into a high-shine showpiece that’s both practical and sleek.

Clean your vinyl plank floors at least one to two times per week with a broom, vacuum, or microfiber mop. You can save the mopping and disinfecting for your deeper cleans about two to three times a month. Keep in mind that if you find sticky spots, spills, or stains, it's best to take care of them ASAP.

Regular vacuuming, deep cleaning, and prompt stain removal help maintain appearance and durability.

Most DIY floor cleaners don’t require rinsing, but you’ll want to make sure you don’t add too much dish soap or oil to the cleaner to avoid having to rinse it after cleaning. For non-wood floors, mix 8 parts warm water, 1 part vinegar, and 1 part baking soda with a few drops of dish soap. For wood floors, use olive oil in that same mixture instead of the vinegar. You can let these solutions air-dry after cleaning your floors with them, although you should manually dry your floors if they aren’t waterproof.
