"My experience with Mack’s Home Services, LLC was excellent. The people are very professional and did a tremendous job. They were courteous, explained their services and pricing clearly, and things went exactly as they communicated. They were very respectful and operated very carefully throughout our home. I will use them whenever I need our HVAC systems cleaned in the future and strongly recommend them. You will not be disappointed."

"Job went well, i was there most of the time. I did have to run out but they were still at it when i returned. Both men were professional and used shoe booties when walking inside the house. I had just bought the house and and was having headaches daily, my face and my sons skin would get itchy from being in the house. The previous owners had cats and allergies are a big deal for myself and son. Ducts were pretty filthy with debris sitting right in the duct openings. I was told i would get before and after pics of all the ducts. Pics were taken and shown to me before the job started. I never received the after so i cant say 100% how well they are cleaned. I asked for them on 2 different occasions through email and never received them. I can say that the headaches went away, the smell of the home was much improved and no more itching. But again, the service says before AND after.

"I'm not sure how this place got an A rating? I have my microfiber couch cleaned once a year professionally and do maintenance cleaning myself with a home shampooer (this is to emphasize that the couch was not overly stained or dirty). Firstly, after purchasing the services, I received an email from Angie's saying that I would be contacted soon by the company (like any services you buy). Well that didn't happen, instead I had to call them on the 4th day without hearing from them to schedule an appointment which in itself was difficult. They seemed unaware I had even purchased the service! The day of the appointment was a little better. He (I use the 3rd person because I still don't know his name even after I introduced myself) did come within my appointment window. The quality of work is ok, they did the job but the level of cleanliness after the service was not unlike to what I could have done myself with my own home shampooer or ones you rent from Home Depot. My condo is carpeted and so I was a little surprised that he didn't use foot booties or protection for his boots while working with a shampooer. I decided to let that go. At the end, the service provider, when asking me to sign the paperwork, asked how I wanted to pay?!?! I had to remind him it was an Angie's List purchase. I have used other shampoo/steamer services in previous years who have done a much more thorough job (from setting up appt to the actual cleaning) for a similar price range. Not wowed at all and save yourself the money by going elsewhere. The level of professionalism was simply lacking. 200 Degrees seems like an unsure, incapable, and unorganized company as a whole. To recap, you can probably clean your couch yourself with a rented machine or home shampooer just as well."

Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Following a few basic tips for maintaining your front-load washer can extend your unit’s lifespan.

  • Clean your machine monthly and always use the correct detergent. (If your machine is High-Efficiency, only use HE detergent.)

  • Avoid fabric softener.

  • Leave the washer door open after a cycle to avoid moisture buildup.

  • Remove all of the wet clothes promptly, and wipe down the machine after each use.

  • Conduct an annual inspection yourself or hire someone to check that your machine is in tip-top shape. Proper maintenance means your machine will clean your clothes as best as possible, and you’ll prevent common issues like mold and mildew build-up on the seal or clogged filters from the water inlets.

Most experts agree that the best thing with which to clean epoxy floors is a diluted mixture of ammonia and warm water. You can also use mild dish soap diluted with warm water or a degreaser (such as Simple Green or Goof Off) diluted with warm water. Some soap-based cleaners can leave a haze. If you notice this, further dilute the mixture with water or use a different detergent that does not leave a film. You should never use harsh cleaning chemicals, any type of acidic compound (such as vinegar or citrus-based cleansers), or harsh scrubbers like steel wool or hard bristle brushes.

If it’s been a while between cleanings, then further elbow grease is needed. To help with caked- on stains, create a solution of distilled vinegar and water, then soak the rough side of the sponge and scrub.

To find the best house cleaner to keep your place pristine while freeing up your time, ask for word-of-mouth recommendations and check online reviews. Arrange background checks for any housekeeper you’re considering hiring and ensure they have appropriate bonds and insurance. It's also worth interviewing the company or individual cleaner and outlining expectations.

Professionals use various tools and cleaning solutions based on the type of floor they’re cleaning. They often use industrial steam cleaners to pull debris out of the carpet. For localized stains, they may use a commercial cleaner or a mixture of water, vinegar, and dish soap. For tile, they’ll typically use dish soap and hot water, plus a mixture of baking soda and hot water for the grout. For cleaning wood floors, they might use a low-heat steamer, a mop with an oil wood floor cleaner, or a mixture of hot water, vinegar, and lemon juice.
