"We selected DMV based on our previous experience with the company, starting with Rolando who successfully remodeled our kitchen and 3 baths back in 2015. This time we had an emergency and Javier responded quickly, asking his men to remove a cracked tub and demolish the surrounding tiles. In their place they installed a new tub and plumbing plus beautiful new tiles for the surrounding wall, adding 2 grab bars, one for the tub and the other for the Master shower to prevent our slipping and falling. They cleaned the grout in our Master shower and Hall tub, applied silicone and sealant, and painted the baseboard and wall near the tub. Aside from the work in the bathroom and shower, they replaced the screen in an exterior window, secured some areas in the garage ceiling with screws, and removed, painted and reinstalled our exterior shutters. Muchas gracias to David and David! Bon trabajo! During the early, uncertain days of the Pandemic when we were nervous to have anyone do remodeling inside our house, we asked Javier to do some work outdoors. He ordered a wood storage shed from Home Depot and it was delivered to our front yard without telling anyone. The DMV men unpacked the box and discovered some necessary parts were missing so returned to Home Depot to buy them. They leveled the slope in our backyard and set the foundation for the shed. Then they added shingles, windows, doors, and a ramp. They painted the outside of the shed and added a ramp, selecting a sturdier paint for the latter. They installed a screen all around the bottom edge of the shed to provide ventilation and keep the animals out. Finally they moved the items to be stored from our garage to the new shed, opening up more space in the garage for the remodeling of the 1st and 2nd floors of our house. Muchas gracias to Jose, Carmina, Orlando, and Wilmer! Bon trabajo! Finally after a long wait due to the Pandemic we remodeled the 1st and 2nd floors of our house with Javier once again in charge. The workmen skillfully disassembled and/or moved furniture, file cabinets, supplies, and 100s of books and other items to different locations in the house and garage. Then they installed new lighting: 53 recessed lights, 9 dimmers, and a new electrical outlet near the vanity. When a bookcase was added on the right side of my new digital organ they moved the organ to the left along with 2 recessed lights shining above the organ to more effectively illuminate the music rack. And finally they installed a special circuit breaker for the organ. They installed cabling for 3 internet connections to the computer network giving access to the basement, living room, and 2nd floor. They installed the wiring for electrical power to 3 printers, one on each floor. Next they replaced our carpet with beautiful hardwood floors in 7 rooms, a small hallway, and a stairway. They removed 5 single doors on the 2nd floor and replaced them with solid core doors. They installed and painted 2 bi-folding doors for our utility closets. They painted the walls in 7 rooms, a small hallway, and a stairway first removing wallpaper in one room and 2 wall borders. They took special care in the den, repairing one wall and a big hole in the ceiling before painting. They did a great job of painting the ceilings, touching up 4 textured ceilings and smoothing out 3 others in a more elaborate process that included repairing drywall and removing texture, preparing the ceiling for painting, and then actually painting it. They installed and painted shoe molding in 7 rooms. And last but not least they repaired bathroom door frame and painted the nearby wall and a baseboard that had some paint splotches from a previous job. The DMV workmen did some additional jobs not related to repairing and painting walls and ceilings, or installing hardwood floors. The installed 5 smoke detectors, 7 curtain rods, a new Bosch dishwasher, and new blinds to replace blinds accidently damaged. They caulked a bathtub, cleaned grout in a shower and caulked the area near its door. In order to prevent heavy bookcases from toppling over they secured 10 bookcases to the wall. And in a final visit they even tightened screws in the kitchen cabinets installed by the previous DMV contractor. Muchas gracias to the 2 Maynors, Geovany, Jesus, David, Danillo, Diego and the flooring team, Grover, Luis, Orlando, and Fairo. Bon travajo! The quality of materials and workmanship on the outdoor shed and remodeling of bathroom, first and second floors was exceptional. Because we are an elderly couple we really appreciated the extra help in moving things around throughout the projects. The workmen were punctual, polite, honest, skilled, hardworking, and flexible in adjusting to changes from time to time. They always took care in sealing off work areas, covering floors, and cleaning up at the end of the day. The price seems reasonable because sometimes they did extra work not previously budgeted like extra painting or changes when were not satisfied or had new ideas. Javier is great at planning, communicating and executing the work, but could certainly benefit from having a right-hand man to assist him when he is not immediately available. We would highly recommend DMV and have already signed a contract for remodeling our basement that includes vinyl flooring, lighting, painting, and installation of storage shelves. "I researched several companies to find a Power Recliner for my dad. I settled on Get-A-Grip. They offer chairs rent-to-buy, which is ideal for us. It was easy to order on the phone and set up delivery. When they arrived with the recliner, they brought a comfortable, attractive brand new one and set it up in 90 seconds. They were professional and courteous from the first phone call through delivery and beyond. Highly recommend. Easy, affordable, professional, courteous."

"The work that Bobby did was rebuilding a shed ramp, installing new porch screen door and repairing large window ledge. All I can say is that he made everything better than new! Couldn’t ask any anyone more professional!"

"This was a great experience from beginning to end. Within 24 hours of my purchasing the bathroom remodel deal on Angie's list, Jennifer DePollar from Chevy Chase Remodeling contacted me to set up our initial consultation appointment with Steven DePollar. Steven came out and completed measurements on my bathroom and went over everything with me in great detail. That very evening he emailed me my bathroom's specific measurments and a list of things for me to pick out to go into our new bathroom. I went online and picked out everything I wanted- which took me a week or so. Along the way I had some questions and both Jennifer and Steve were always available to answer them right away. They even proactively checked in with me to see if I needed help picking out any of the items on the list. Once I submitted my list, they contacted me to let me know that they would be calling me to schedule the project itself once everything was ordered. Shortly thereafter, they called to get me scheduled just as they said they would. During the project itself, everything went great! The work crew was on time every morning and worked hard each day- they cleaned up any debris left behind at the end of each day, so my home was always nice and clean after they left. They did an amazing job and answered every question I had along the way. They were even willing to install a new faucet on my kitchen sink and a new toilet in my basement bathroom, which was not the one being renovated. They also went above and beyond to install my bathtub, as I picked out a special jacuzzi tub instead of a standard one. During the very last day of the project, I was reading up on the jacuzzi tub and realized that the heating unit for the air jets was sold separately. I really wanted that unit and did not realize it was not built into the tub until literally the last day of the project. I called Steven that same day in a panic about it, thinking that it would take another few days to get that ordered and installed, because not only was it last minute, but it happened to be a Saturday. Imagine my surprise when I got home from work that afternoon to discover that they had made a special trip to the store that very day to buy the heating unit and had already installed it! I was so happy. They even bought me a new shower curtain rod while at the store, something I had forgotten to get on my own. As for the bathroom itself? The end product is beautiful. I could not be happier. It is now everyone's favorite room in the whole house!! It is just gorgeous. Even my dog loves it!! We are really enjoying it. I would recommend Chevy Chase Remodeling 110% and will definitely use them again for any future home improvement projects we may have. Update: This job was completed mid August. Today is October 1st. Thursday night (September 29) we noticed a leak from the pipes in the basement ceiling that occurred when we drained the bathtub. I called Chevy Chase Remodeling, and even though it was almost 9pm, Jennifer answered the phone! I was so glad she was there. She assured me that Steven would contact me the next morning regarding the leak. I took a short video clip and emailed it to them. Steven did call me back Friday morning (yesterday) and told me he would indeed send a plumber out as soon as he could, with it being the weekend it is hard to find someone on short notice, but he did! As I sit here typing this, the plumber Steven sent to me is here fixing the leak. Here's the amazing thing... this leak is occurring on a pipe that Steven and his crew did not work on or install during the bathroom renovation... yet he was still willing to help me and found me a plumber to fix it right away!! How's that for AMAZING customer service?? It wasn't even a leak associated with the job that they did, yet Steven & Jennifer still went out of their way to help me. It turns out that the leak was a blessing in disguise as the plumber discovered a stress crack in the main sewage line inside of my house! Yikes!!! Had that burst, it would've been a nightmare!! So not only is he fixing the leak, he's replacing that portion of my sewage pipe as well. That little leak just prevented us from having a huge problem down the road! A big thank you to Steven and Jennifer DePollar!!! And to your crew!! You guys are amazing, and have restored my faith in customer service. I couldn't be happier. Every time I had a question, I was able to reach out and get in contact with either Steven or Jennifer right away, and they always took care of my concerns. Thanks again, Chevy Chase Remodeling! I am one happy customer!! Please see my photos included of my new bathroom."

"Mr. Heard and his team (Douglas, Omar and Uncle Merc) are very professional yet friendly and so easy to work with. I hired them initially to replace a tub and shower I have hated for the last 5 years; however, after the initial consultation I decide to do the entire bathroom due to the pricing for the project. I ended up having a completely new tub, shower, tiles, vanity, medicine cabinet, flooring, towel rack and cabinet installed. I couldn't be any happier or satisfied. Mr. Heard explain the entire process to you in the beginning, he was so patient to answer all of my questions throughout the project. I was referred to Mr. Heard by my mother who has used them for years. I was so confident in their ability and their service that I moved in with my parents for the seven days it took to complete the project. Gave them a key to my home and relaxed while they gave me the bathroom of my dreams. I never worried about anything being stolen or anything like that. One of the best things about Mr. Heard is that he's a Christian and he believes in being honest."

Customers say: True professional

"It was a pleasure to work with this company from start to finish. Because the structure was preexisting, walls that were not square made the bookcase a challenge, but Devin took special care to work the details until it was right. The subs all did equally excellent work, were respectful of our home and did careful cleanup. Everyone involved took obvious care to create a quality product."

Grab Bar Installation questions, answered by experts

To make your gate safe, purchase a gate made from strong material such as wrought iron, stainless steel, or other metals. Ensure that the gate has strong joints and bars that are welded on rather than inserted loosely. If you’re concerned about people climbing over your gate, you can deter them by installing fence spikes along the top as an extra precaution.

Strike plates and security plates are the same thing, but there are strike plates that offer more security than others. For the highest security, look for plates made of heavy-duty steel, reinforced strike plates thicker than regular ones, and extended strike plates. It’s much harder to break into a door with these strike plates because they hold up better to force from attempted entry.

While spring gates close gently but firmly, they’re not a foolproof solution for securing your yard to prevent pets or kids from escaping or unwanted guests from entering. Installing a gate latch that is sturdy and lockable with a self-closing mechanism is more effective, especially when used alongside other methods for keeping your home safe, such as cameras or motion detectors.

Yes, many providers offer reinforced steel, fire-rated, and electronic access doors for businesses.

In addition to window well covers or bars, you can take a few more steps to boost basement window security. Try motion-activated lighting; it scares off potential intruders by lighting up when someone gets too close. Strengthening your window glass with impact-resistant security film can also deter forced entry. A dependable home security system with window sensors and cameras offers real-time monitoring and alerts for added protection. Lastly, fostering good relationships with neighbors can establish a supportive community watch network, enhancing your home's safety.
