"Klaus moved our wired electric panel and re-wired the entire kitchen. He added amazing lighting including recessed lighting, under counter lighting and toe kick lighting. He installed relocated electrical receptacles for the dishwasher, garbage disposal and water pump. Did beautiful finish work. Very good at communicating and saying yes when I asked for more. Pricing very reasonable. Very dependable and amicable. Highly recommended."

"Due to the recent blizzard in Somerset County electric service was lost at a house I own in Marion. I only learned Sunday (3-1-26) that the power company couldn't hook up the electric until an electrician had pulled the main entrance cable and replaced the casing for the meter. By 9 am Monday, I had a call back from Brandon at Legendary (410-726-9087) who was at the house very quickly. The work was done perfectly by a master electrician, and I couldn't be more thrilled. I recommend Legendary highly. - Joanna"

"Tony came over on time as scheduled and did exactly the job I needed done. He created a cable and electric switch right behind the tv that I had hung on wall. He followed code and even rehung huge tv afterwards! He is highly professional and appropriately meticulous. I recommend Tony and his company."

Customers say: True professional

"Mike got my washing machine going saved me from having to buy another one! Soooo stressed out with laundry piling up. He saved us and got it running again same day he came out. There were a few other small items I was stressing about, he asked and completed them for me too! Oven light-replaced, washing machine-fixed, worth every penny! You can't buy kindness or efficiency, Mike was professional, quick, and kind. I will be calling Mike first for whatever the next thing is."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

There are a few reasons your lights may be on, but the rest of your electrical outlets and appliances are not working. The first is that while one circuit blew out, the lights may be on another circuit than your other electrical fixtures. Alternatively, your powerless appliances may be plugged into a GFCI outlet that was tripped and needs to be reset. If these issues aren’t responsible for the problem, you may have dead outlets or a wiring issue. Either way, you should contact an electrician to identify and fix the issue.

To determine if an electrical outlet is blown, look for visible signs of damage such as a burning or smoky smell, burn marks, or a melted or discolored plastic cover. If you notice a burning smell, contact an electrician immediately. Other signs include a plug that keeps falling out or the outlet not working when you test it with different devices. For further troubleshooting, you can use a voltage tester or multimeter to check for power; a reading of zero indicates a problem. Also, check your circuit breaker or fuse box to see if the circuit was tripped and reset it if necessary. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the outlet may need to be replaced.

The copper wire used in knob and tube wiring systems can last up to 100 years. However, it’s considered a dangerous and outdated wiring method because the cloth, fabric, or rubber insulation sheathing can become brittle and fall apart. Knob and tube wiring systems should be inspected if you’re considering buying a home with this type of wiring, or if you have problems with frequently tripping breakers, a sign that you may need to replace them.

If wiring in a relatively modern home is damaged due to sudden events like a fire, a tree falling into the house, or a flood, then homeowners insurance is very likely to cover the cost of replacing the wire.

However, if it’s determined that wiring failed or started the fire because of age, neglect, or not meeting current electrical standards, then insurance won’t be covering any replacement. Also, insurance policies may charge more for particularly old kinds of wiring like aluminum wiring or deny applications altogether.

Yes, electric-start snow blowers need to be plugged in to start, but you can unplug them and go once they’re up and running. Simply plug the snow blower into an outdoor outlet and press the start button. Once it starts, you can unplug it and use it freely. The idea for these types of snow blowers is to simplify the starting process from the typical pull-string starts.
