"Todd, the owner took my call and gave me a quote to install recessed lights and track lights and switchs. He was very thorough, professional courteous. He gave me a very reasonable quote on my first call and set up a convenient time for installation..He gave me a reminder call the day before and a few minutes before arriving his staff arrived. The electricians were very professional and put down protective measures to keep the area clean, They minimized the area that had to be cut in the wall to do the wiring for the 3 new Recessed Lights and Switches. They covered the work area with plastic and cleaned up after the job. I highly recommend this C.T. Smith Electrical Services, LLC for timely, quality, electrical work. I am a happy satisfied customer and give them a five-star rating and recommendation."

"Instead of just lighting the driveway he designed the lighting plan, picking particular trees to light to illuminate an aesthetic path up to the house.  The result is wonderful!  The lights on the walkway to the and deck are carefully positioned and the entire effect is wonderful.  I plan to have him back to do lights in the backyard as well.

"Kurt Fringes was very responsive to our initial inquiry and throughout the entire process.  He met with us several times to get a good grasp of what we wanted for our yard.  His design was well thought out, and he gave us practical recommendations that took into consideration the various uses for the different areas of our yard.  His team was prompt and thorough.  The landscaping process took several days and the team always left the property in excellent condition (blew leaves and debris away at the end of each work day).  Every attention to detail was met during the landscaping and stonework portion of the projects.  The stonework was meticulous and tied in beautifully with the existing patio.   Kurt was often on hand to give direction and guidance to ensure all the work met up to expectations.  He even had his team come out and reseed the yard after a heavy rainstorm had washed the initial seeding away.  It was refreshing to work with Distinctive Landscapes due to their responsiveness, professionalism and the outstanding quality of their workmanship.  I would highly recommend them for landscaping and stonework services.

"We couldn't be happier!  Mark and his crew were professional, punctual, and seemed to really enjoy working together.  In the course of doing the project, we ended up deciding to address some wiring from our house to our garage that didn't meet code.  (It was only a few inches deep instead of 18" and was not buried in conduit, so it was an electrocution risk).  Mark rented a digger for a day and dug a trench for the electricians, which was more cost efficient than having them do it.  The patio wasn't quite the shape we had in mind at first, but they made it right.  (Note to self:  do a DRAWING next time to make communication smoother.  :-)).  We LOVE the pavers, the shape, the permeability, and pretty much everything about our new patio, and we were impressed at how quickly the work went.  We were originally scheduled for mid-August, but the work was done before the last week of July.  We may have them come back to make the rest of the original sidewalk behind our house match the skim coated piece, and maybe to do a path through our backyard if we don't want to do that work ourselves.

Lighting questions, answered by experts

Installing outdoor lighting can increase your home’s value by up to $2,500. The average ROI on landscape lighting is around 50%, but how much your home increases depends on the market, the type of lighting, and whether you have a strong strategy for your landscaping lighting project. LED and solar lighting may offer the highest ROIs.

One possibility is that they aren’t getting enough sunlight during the day, which could be due to a lack of sunshine in your area or trees blocking the solar panel. Alternatively, if the solar panel is dirty or the batteries are dying, your solar lights might not operate at full brightness.

Common outdoor lighting issues include faulty or exposed wiring, burnt-out or damaged bulbs, and broken or faulty fixtures. Regular maintenance can help prevent many of these problems.

Yes! As a matter of fact, there are many sensors that add motion to existing outdoor lights. These motion sensors attach to pre-existing flood lights and other outdoor lights without any fussy and potentially dangerous electrical work. Additionally, some flood lights and related fixtures ship with motion sensors built-in.

To maintain your outdoor lighting and prevent major issues, you should regularly clean the fixtures, inspect the wiring and connections, and replace worn or burnt-out bulbs promptly. These simple steps ensure consistent operation and extend the life of your lighting system.
