"Don made the drive out to my home to measure my existing basement window openings. He then sat down with me and explained to me what my options were as far as glass blocks and different features available. He was fully prepared to show me how MGB produces the windows and the install process. I thought the pricing was very fair and they had the block windows finished in just a few days. Both Don and Scott in the office were extremely professional and answered every question I had. I would highly recommend Maryland Glass Block."

"Punctual, professional, and high quality product based upon comparison. The estimator and a competitor overlapped when I was getting quotes and he was perfectly professional, acknowledged that he knew the competitor company. As he was leaving he shook my hand and said he hoped he could earn my business. Overall very impressed, although the project exceeds my budget at this time (I had underestimated the cost). I'll look to them when I'm ready--their prices matched the quality and the door was significantly less than the competitor's.

"Sergio installed a new tile countertops and stone backsplash in my kitchen. His work was perfect! He was easy to contact (Thank you, Monique), prompt, courteous, started the job right on time, stayed with it until it was finished, also right on time, and his price was very reasonable. I had one tiny thing I wanted changed and he took care of it right away and without complaint. I recently needed his help to finish a job started by someone else and he was there within 48 hours! My house is 97 years old, and over the past 20 years, I've worked with many contractors , but Sergio was by far the best. I would recommend him without reservation."

"EJALE Group, in the person of Evol Ewan, was extremely responsive. Evol made a site visit the same day I first called him. He is very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, listens well, and takes time to explain and answer questions. We hired EJALE Group to do site prep and pour a concrete slab to receive a 2-car garage (by others). Our builder, who has very high standards, referred us to Evol and said his work was top-notch. The team performed excellent work in terribly hot and humid conditions. We'll hire EJALE Group for our next projects."

"Excellent.  Mr. Schooley was professional and did a very thorough job inspecting the septic tank and even found  a PV pipe that was hidden under dirt/grass.  He also went above and beyond by educating me about the septic system and how it worked, including great advice about maintaining it.  HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!"

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

Regular cleaning with non-abrasive cleaners helps prevent buildup and maintains clarity.

Glass block installation can be relatively expensive due to the range of material costs and the labor time to assemble this type of specialty window. The process proceeds slowly as the glass does not absorb moisture from mortar and silicone caulk takes longer to harden, leaving spacers to hold up the structure until the caulk or mortar begins to cure. Plus, if your current windows have structural issues or damage, you’ll need to repair them before beginning the project, increasing your bottom line.

Yes, many professionals provide custom-cut glass replacements for enclosures that require precise sizing.

Heavy glass tends to be more expensive than thin glass because it is stronger and more durable. In most cases, ¼-inch-thick glass is ideal for mirrors, and ⅛-inch-thick glass is ideal for residential windows. Heavier glass isn’t always necessary, and can be more challenging to hang or install. Work with a local window installation pro for replacement or new construction windows.

You can still see vaguely into some types of glass block windows at night. Although there won’t be clear definitions, passersby may still see shapes, shadows, and movement through the glass. If you want complete privacy, consider installing diamond glass block windows rather than the typical clear or wavy glass blocks.
