Super friendly and reasonable (at least for the cleaning, I didn't double check prices for caps, but honestly don't care too much since they have a lifetime warranty on it). "It was a two person crew.  They were polite and went right to work.  The cleaning portion went off without a hitch.  When it came to doing the chimney inspection, they said they couldn't do it.  While my house is two stories, they considered my chimney a 3 story chimney and didn't have ladders high enough to reach.  So no inspection.

"The service rep was very safety conscious and went over safety details on how to properly build a fire, how to dispose of the embers, how to avoid extra smoke coming into the house.  he did a thorough examination of the chimney flues, inside and outside and checked some brick facing in the attic that a previous inspector had explained needed to be re-mortared.  He had a thorough knowledge of the construction of our chimney and pronounced in in very good condition.  He also confirmed the proper discharge location for fallen embers into the basement, which had been a worry for us.  He pronounced that in good shape as well.  He also went over the idea we wanted to explore of making the fireplace into a two sided one and he explained that this was indeed possible.  but he recommended that we use the third flu, which he discovered and which no one had told us about, and explained we could convert that flu to a gas fired fireplace flu for the room on the other side. 
He cleaned up well after himself and was professional throughout.  I will use him again every year.

"They did a great job. They solved all the problems I had with the chimney and it’s been working perfectly ever since. They also fixed a problem on the roof around the chimney; they replaced the wood around the chimney with a material that would never rot, so they fixed it even better than it was before. It took them a couple of days to do the work. They took care of all the cleanup as well. We've been real happy with them."

"Rob was courteous, pleasant and professional. They did a spotless cleaning job. He showed us pictures of the inside of the chimney from the boiler where the old terracotta lining was crumbling and starting to block the exhaust. Right on time 2 days later and put in a new stainless steel liner. In the afternoon I asked what was taking so long he said that the first liner they put in got a tear so they took it out and put it a new one, guaranteed for life.. I was blown away. Nobody would have noticed. I was blown away by the integrity. The brickwork needs replacing but I already arranged that for after the winter. He asked me a few questions and told me that the guy sounded like he knew what he was doing. Again, you can't buy this kind of work ethic anymore His partner Vinny was very knowledgeable in fireplace mechanics and gave my wife, pretty good at fireplaces herself, some excellent advice. One of my best experiences with home repair folk. And free cleaning next year."

"I called Mark because I had previously used a masonry contractor to repair my chimney and spot-point my side wall on my house. After the derachio in June, I quickly found out that my masonry contractor didn't do such a great job. I had water coming in through the wall. I called my masonry contractor numerous times because his contract included a 3 year warranty. He answered the phone sometimes but never showed up. Then came Superstorm Sandy and I had water coming in all over the wall. I had to do something. I checked on Angies List and found Pawling Masonry. Mark was reasonable in his pricing. I had to wait for his services-but when you are good at what you do, you tend to be in demand. Anyway, when his crew arrived they were courteous, polite, and they didn't play around. They got to work and completed the work quickly. My wall is now completely pointed and it looks great. They even applied brick sealer to the wall when they were done. I would reccommend Pawling Masonry to anyone and everyone.
