"Charlie Ornamental did an amazing job fixing my iron gate that has a broken latch. They were on time; complete the job quickly, and did it a very reasonable price. I would definitely recommend them!"

Small jobs welcome

"Carlos came to the property to inspect and price the job. He was clear in describing what he would do, how and when. The fence was beautifully built at a most competitive price. Ge hauled away the old fence and left the yard neat and clean. This is the second job CLM has done for me. I will always use them!!"

"Since our vehicles do not fit into our one-car garage, we have not used the garage door opener for years. We are getting ready to put our home on the market to sell and wanted to make sure that the garage door was in excellent working condition. We saw the Angie's List Offer on email and decided to buy it. My husband is a veteran and so is the owner of this company. The repairman came out to our home at the scheduled time, he was professional and did a good job in letting us know what he was doing, what needed to be done and he was able to tell my husband what needed to be done (in addition to the tune-up) to ensure the garage door opener was in top condition. He performed all of those recommendations and did it for the cost of the tune-up! We would definitely use Kelly's Garage Door Repair in the future and recommend them highly."

"Nice person. Did what they said they would do. Nothing jumped out at me to be unhappy about. Provide an estimate for some additional repair work which sounded little high. So I didnt get that repair work done. I would have expected a written report of the state of the chimney though. I will have to call them up for that. Overall, satisfied.

"My husband had called several contractors and was waiting days for them to call him back.  He decided to call Honey Cove.  Brandon happened to be in the area and was at our house for an estimate within the hour.  He and his crew performed the work within two weeks after that.   When I got home from work, it was all completed and the yard, front and back, looked great!  We will definitely call him back next year to get another "jump start" on the lawn care!

"Once again, AMS Home Remodeling, Frank, was able to clean up my mess.  After ordering a closet organizer unit online. I made the mistake of hiring another company to install the units - 3 total (2 reach in and 1 master).  This original company did not know what they were doing and caused me nothing but more problems (i.e. holes in walls, damaged pieces from closet unit that needed to be replaced, etc).  Frank was able to make time in his all ready busy schedule to come out to take a look at the mess.  He was able to get me into the schedule and complete the install and all repairs from previous contractors by the end of the week.  Frank and his crew (Bruno plus 1) did more than an outstanding job.  Final product is amazing.  I have used AMS Home Remodeling for a complete makeover in my home and I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for an honest dependable contractor.  I absolutely LOVE these guys.
Frank - thank you!!!!

Gate Repair questions, answered by experts

Assuming the site is prepped and you have all the tools and materials ready, you should budget the better part of a day to build a driveway gate. This can depend on your DIY experience and which materials you’ve chosen, such as building from scratch or using a prefabricated option. The gate size and finishing touches, like painting or staining, can also add to the overall time budget.

When making this decision, three essential factors come into play. For budget-conscious individuals, swing gates are the more economical choice. Despite the possibility of both gate types having similar dimensions, many types of sliding gates demand a more intricate opening mechanism and additional components, requiring electrical work for motors and signaling remotes, resulting in higher installation costs.

In most cases, you will need a permit to install a new driveway or property gate. An exception might be if you are simply replacing an existing gate. Before issuing a permit, your local municipality may require a site plan or survey to verify property lines and prevent encroachment on a neighbor's property. Permits for a gate typically cost under $100. Be aware that corner properties may have additional restrictions on gate height or style. It's wise to confirm permit requirements with your local building department or your gate installation company, which can usually handle the entire permitting process for you.

Yes, you can convert manual gates to electric operation. Installing a motor and an opening device from a kit allows you to convert any gate so it can open and close automatically. Be sure to buy the correct type of opener for your gate style. For example, some openers are specific to swinging gates, while others are for sliding gates. Get familiar with your swinging or sliding gate parts before you go shopping to avoid having to return to the store for the correct opener.

The obvious disadvantage of an automatic gate is that it runs on electricity. If the power goes out, it won’t open or close unless there’s a manual override. Many homeowners will need a backup generator so they don’t get stuck on either side of the gate, particularly when looking to park a vehicle. Automatic gates are also much more complicated than manual gates, with tech-heavy components that make them more expensive to repair.
