I contracted Mr. Singleton to install wrought Iron rails on my front stoop. I was told he could install the rails later in the week. Three weeks later he arrived to install the rails. When he showed up he did not even notify me that he had arrived for the install and just started installing the rails. Had he notified me that he was at my home and ready to install the rails, I would have prevented the install upon seeing the quality of the rails. Instead, Mr Singleton installed misaligned, poorly welded, poorly painted rails. In addition to the poor quality of the rails, masonry and bricks on the stoop were damaged and broken. Excess anchoring cement/sealant was not cleaned up and was allowed set up on the bricks leaving an unsightly mess. Pictures attached show the bad welds with excess welding material and splattered welding material all over the work. There were gaps in welded joints, with no attempt the grind the welds to blend them into the rails. Painting was incomplete as there were areas with bare metal and exposed primer. Upon seeing the work, I called Mr. Singleton and told him the work was unacceptable and the rails needed to be completely removed and the masonry repaired. There was no way the rails could be realigned, welded, blended and painted to look the way they should. I paid him 1/2 by check up front and the rest after the job. Immediately after he left, I requested him to return after I inspected the completed job. He would not return and I had to cancel the second check. Mr Singleton said he would come back later in the week to resolve the issue. He was an absolute NO SHOW. Communication with Mr. Singleton is hit and miss. I Do Not Recommend Fusion Ironworks, LLC or Mr Singleton for installing wrought iron railings. Be warned, the quality of materials and craftsmanship is substandard!

I contracted with Mr. Singleton to do two things: 1) level and repair a set of wrought iron stairs; and 2) strip and otherwise prepare the stairs for priming and painting. As the stairs are 150yo original wrought iron, I was very specific in communications and the contract (that he agreed to) that the the goal was to preserve and restore the beautiful metal and that the work would include "leveling the entire set of steps... to include inserting metal brace under bottom step..." "install corner bracket on inside of corner" riser; "grind down all repairs to smooth, paint ready surface," "replace missing/broken screws in stair treads," "sand rust areas", "paint and rust removal, sanding (fully prepped for priming and painting by customer)" very little of this was done, at a professional level, or otherwise. He declared the job done even though the stairs were still visably not level and without a brace on the bottom step, no corner bracket was used, no screws were replaced (and several newly went missing after he grinded the heck out of all surfaces), stripper had been thrown around from the can in blobs on the stairs and railings (and adjacent painted walls) and left to bubble, dry, and harden unevenly overnight. When I pointed out these things, he did remove some more paint (using only a grinder that left gouge marks on several surfaces), but did not return to finish as promised. I was left to clean up his mess -- including applying several coats of paint stripper, scraping and sanding, using rust dissolver and treatment, etc. many, many untouched or damaged areas. He seemed to have no idea how to strip paint or refinish metalwork properly. He may be fine for rough welding if you don't care what it looks like, but I would not let him near anything that should be aesthetically pleasing to look at. I don't weld, but do solder and have hired welders in the past and have had no complaints. I've refinished these and other stairs in the past and know how much work goes into it, but he was not willing to do anything but grind away at all of the lovely, 150yo detail and I could not let him continue after it became apparent he didn't know what he was doing. I got supplies, offered use of my heat gun and sander, and even agreed to look after and fed his 5yo son who he brought to the job site (!) so that he could do the work right, but did not receive anywhere near the level of what he was contracted and paid to do. I do not recommend letting him near your home.

Response from Fusion Ironworks LLC
I am very shocked and disappointed that Ms. [Member Name Removed] wrote such a long response expressing her displeasure with my work. I first want to say that everything she complained about I went back and corrected because I ran out of time to do so on the agreed day. Secondly she has a set of stairs which is over 200 years old in which she seems to expect me to refurbish a $30,000 set of cast iron stairs like new for $2000 and that’s just not possible. I explained to her that in stairs that old they will crack further upon moving and sanding. She also never mentioned how she had a large break on her top stair between the platform and stair in which I repaired for her for free which otherwise would’ve easily been a $300 charge. And as far as the sanding we agreed to come back the next day and it rained, I called her to reschedule several times and she never ounce answered the phone. I hope that she decides to update this review because 90% of it is inaccurate and the one thing I didn’t finish which was the sanding she never gave me the opportunity to come back and finish as we agreed.

I think that I overpaid for the quality of the work that was done, I had someone come out and look at the repair work and was told that it would not pass a state inspection so now I have to have it repaired again.
