"Edge Energy did an energy audit for us, then sealed the house, installed a new roof with excellent insulation, and an ERV fan to ensure fresh air. They were a delight to work with throughout, very friendly and professional. We needed some follow up work due to quirks in the house, not bad work by Edge, and they did it promptly and without charge. I couldn't recommend them more highly."

"Brian came out to perform an energy audit on my home. He arrived on time, was respectful of my home and showed me where my insulation was missing with his infrared camera! His report came two days later as promised with a reasonable quote."

"You wrote a review for Elite Thermal 3 hours ago 5.0 star rating 6/13/2023 It is rare that I end up having home repairs done to where I feel satisfied enough to post a review of the work on Yelp. More often than not, I feel like the work was overpriced, with hidden costs popping up along the way, then the workers leave with the work not even completed and never return for repairs to a job that was not done well to begin with. So, working with Elite Thermal was a happy experience, worth sharing. The cost was highly competitive. The work was well explained in advance by Chad, who was also here the morning of the work to oversee his crew. Pictures were taken before and after. Workers were timely, polite, clean and profession. Even once the work was completed, I was able to get modified receipts for rebate purposes to meet what was required. I highly recommend the team at Elite Thermal for your attic cleanup and insulation.Iâ m"

"Very professional. Fully explained the process before starting and showed photos of the areas that needed insulation in my home. Before and after photos. Used energy company rebates to reduce my out of pocket expenses and did follow up evaluation. I saw the change in my energy bill! Thanks!"

"It went very well and Thad and his assistant.  They worked fast and professionally.  No mess.  They were at our house for less than 90 minutes.  We were very pleased with Thad and if we have any future electrical needs he will be our 1st call.

"Wonderful, it was a very quick and easy process. Brian talked us through it and in no time we had a 3KW system mounted on a frame in the garden and the invertor installed in the basement. Brian talked us through working with our power company to get the system checked and approved and we now get credits from the power company for power we provide to the grid. In addition we are set up to get Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs) payments for providing clean energy. We also got a free Energy Audit which helped locate some problems areas we were able to fix. The system has basically cut our energy costs in half. I have hesitation in recommending them to anyone interested in solar energy."

Energy Efficiency Auditing questions, answered by experts

There are a couple of ways you can save on the cost of your home energy audit. First, find out if you qualify for programs like the Department of Energy’s Weatherization Assistance Program for low-income households. Next, check with your local utility company to find out if you qualify for any local rebate programs to offset the cost of this helpful service.

The difference between an energy auditor and a home inspector is primarily in the purpose of the inspection. The energy auditor conducts tests in your home to determine the energy efficiency levels in areas like windows, insulation, and doorways. The auditor then makes recommendations for ways to improve a home’s energy efficiency

A home inspector examines various structures of your home to determine that everything is up to code and gauge the condition of features like the roof, foundation, HVAC, and electrical. The home inspector reports on the overall home and makes repair recommendations.

Some types of electric fireplaces use more electricity than others. Models that produce 1,500 watts will have more of an effect on your heating bill than 750-watt models.

Electric fireplaces use an average of $1.85 of electricity every eight hours. These minimal operational costs aren’t likely to make a big difference in your electric bill—unless you’re using it as a primary heating source for your home and it’s running most of the time.

A small sump pump running infrequently uses an average of 10 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month. The average cost for electricity is $0.171 per kWh. The size and use frequency affect how much electricity it uses. Sump pumps average one-third to one horsepower (hp) motors. One hp is equal to 745.7 watts. Watts multiplied by the time your pump is running divided by 1,000 equals your average kWh. Multiply kWh by your average cost of electricity. In areas with high rain or a marsh basin, the average cost can be as high as $15-$25 a month.

Electric bills tend to be lower in spring and fall because people use less electricity during these seasons. Milder temperatures allow for less use of heating and cooling, unlike during winter and summer, which usually bring more extreme temperatures.
