"Edge Energy did an energy audit for us, then sealed the house, installed a new roof with excellent insulation, and an ERV fan to ensure fresh air. They were a delight to work with throughout, very friendly and professional. We needed some follow up work due to quirks in the house, not bad work by Edge, and they did it promptly and without charge. I couldn't recommend them more highly."

"Very professional. Fully explained the process before starting and showed photos of the areas that needed insulation in my home. Before and after photos. Used energy company rebates to reduce my out of pocket expenses and did follow up evaluation. I saw the change in my energy bill! Thanks!"

"Great job . . . very professional and clean. C.J. and I spoke of several projects (blown-in insulation, foaming in attic and emergy inspection) unfortunately I had my fridge/freezer go up that week as well and financially could not cover all three. C.J discussed my options and felt that it would be more cost effectivbe if I just had the foam and insulation done. He folt that I would get the most bang for my buck since my attice contained little to no insulation and the energy inspection could be done another time. Work was completed in a timely, efficient, professional manner. Thanks C.J. & company."

"They did a nice job putting together an efficiency audit and explaining what they'd like to do.  The price wasn't cheap, but they were flexible in detailing the different pieces of the overall bid.
They were a little persistent about closing the deal, but my wife and I had to prioritize finances elsewhere in our new house.  We intend on refreshing the estimate and doing the work sometime in the near future.

"I was very happy with them. The price was really good this time, it was like a special or something; it was less than normal. Definitely, I would use them again. I started using them in 1976. Well, they are our local energy supplier and they've always done a good job."

Energy Efficiency Auditing questions, answered by experts

A good SEER rating for an HVAC system is typically between 15 and 20. However, minimum requirements vary by location; HVAC systems in northern states must have at least a 14 SEER rating, while those in southern states need a minimum of 15. For the highest possible efficiency, look for units with a SEER rating of 21 or higher. It's important to remember that a SEER rating represents the maximum efficiency a unit can achieve, not the level at which it will operate at all times.

Leaving vents open but closing doors in unused rooms will probably not save money on your energy bill. Closed doors prevent the natural flow of air throughout the home, which could reduce the efficiency of the overall HVAC system. They could also restrict airflow into and through the return vents, making the HVAC system less efficient.

Upgrade to double-glazed glass or apply energy-efficient coatings to reduce heat loss and utility costs.

While some aspects of an appraisal, such as comparable properties nearby, are out of your control, there are several steps you can take to potentially increase your home's value. Make any necessary repairs and upgrades before the appraiser's visit, as they can only value what is currently part of the home, not its potential. Examples include renovating older areas, updating landscaping to boost curb appeal, and staging your home. You can also provide the appraiser with the cost of recent upgrades, which may increase your home's value by about 50% or more of what you paid for those improvements.

An average, 400-square-foot electric heated driveways consume approximately $3 per hour in terms of electricity. The price may slightly fluctuate depending on your local energy cost. A simple formula to calculate your heated driveway’s total wattage consumption is by multiplying the square footage by 50 watts and then dividing it by 1,000 to get the kilowatt number. Multiply that with your local energy cost per hour and there you have the hourly operating cost.
