About us
Yes, we admit it. We’re tree huggers. Given the amount of attention normally paid to our leafy friends, it’s a wonder some don’t have an inferiority complex. We’ve been giving the trees and shrubs of Ann Arundel County and surrounding areas a lot of TLC for nearly 30 years. We know what they need to thrive and show off their natural beauty. Richard’s Tree Care has three full crews and three estimators. So we’re easily able to keep up with the demand for our services. Check out some of the information and tips on our website and then call us to talk about your trees.

They assessed the situation, gave an estimate, Dan provided their insurance certificate along with his phone number, scheduled the service, and showed up early on the date.
Then they took down the tree, chipped the debris, and ground the stump. Though the ground was soft, there was no damage to the lawn - they used mats. Left some sawdust that quickly dissipated.
Three polite, professional people on the crew. Used their not-really-loud chipper sparingly - didn't keep it going all day. Appreciated that.
Work was very carefully done. They cracked the cap on the neighbor's fence and replaced it immediately with no hassle.
Pleased with the service - would use again.
This year I got an estimate in the mail. I called about it and he said it's time. I called 3 other companies just incase and they all agreed it must come down. It is a risk at this point. I called Richards back and scheduled an appt. They said the following week and will call to confirm exact date. They called me in the morning on Friday and said they had an open window. I told them Im ready. (P.S. I did contact my HOA to inform them of the dead tree... and stay within my bylaws. It's within 20' of house so I was fine).
Richard's removed all the bird houses... from around the tree and started. They did a quick and amazing job. It was raked up, ground up, cleaned up in just short of 2 hours. It was a huge tree. I had no needles left on the branches and even most of the branches snapped off. The trunk was becoming rotten under the bark and I didn't even know that. They were able to scrap a big dent in the trunk with their bare hands.
I was so glad Richard's keeps an eye on my property. He has done that over the years. I was saving another tree in the back yard and he said it was time. I agreed. When the tree came down it was rotten in the inside with ants...bugs and a hole in the core. It was a risk and could have easily came down on the houses and cars. He really watches out for unsafe trees. I'd never use anyone else.
One thing about the county I live in is that if you live within a 1000' feet of the water, you need to get a permit to remove the trees. I have gotten bids from tree services in the past some have told me I did not need a permit, when in fact I did. Richard raised the issue (I did not have to ask) and he took care of getting the permit (there is no cost). It took about a week to obtain.
I have a somewhat steep slope down the side of my house to get to my back yard. When his crew came they laid down matting to protect the grass - they use a sort of mini-lift to get the larger cut-up tree trunk parts out. (I used a service a couple of years go who did not use mats and they really tore up the lawn). I was surprised that they were able to remove all 6 trees in a day - they showed up on time and worked until they finished and did a good job cleaning up - even my neighbors were impressed!
