"Patrick was able to correct all of my problems.  He was quick, provided excellent work, explained to me what he was doing and showed me what he discovered.  Once he found the fracture in the toilet, he was able to order and install the new toilet the next day.  He gave me a fair price on the toilet and labor and even replaced some of the connecting plumbing.  I am more than happy with his work and would recommend his service to anyone needing plumbing work.  He recommended eventually replacing my other two toilets and recommended which to replace first.  I appreciate his work, professionalism and efficiency.  I will definitely use him for the replacements and any other plumbing needs that I have.

"After bathroom remodel, it was determined the new tile was raised beyond the limit of the existing flange and the new toilet could not be installed as is. Called Heil plumbing and they sent Dave on short notice. Dave arrived on time, courteous, and knowledgeable. He quickly assessed the issue and provided an inexpensive solution that did not require cutting into drywall. Dave quickly made the repair and installed the toilet. I highly recommend Dave and will request his services for any future work."

"My sink had clogged again, 2nd time in two weeks. 1st plumber said my piping was at the wrong angle and would need to be fixed. So this time when it clogged again, I had this company come. Very nice plumber checked pipes, gave me a price quote, and then said if it were him, he would have the pipes cleaned by Jetstream. He didn't charge me a thing! I had to call around, but finally found someone to Jetstream it which worked great!"

"I think I talked directly to the owner. Porcelite scheduled service within a week. Technician arrived a few minutes early, got the job done, presented the bill and got out of my hair. I didn't even need to move my sink cabinet which is within a couple of inches of the tub."

"Excellent! Being on a limited budget, I had called several plumbers to get an affordable price. I had spoken with some very nice people, but James Fama owner of Quality Plumbing was the only person who actually listened to me. I told him that I was fairly certain of what the problem was because in younger years I had fixed it myself. He was the only plumber that quoted me a price on exactly what I wanted fixed. Some of the other plumbers quoted outrageous prices for some ridiculously unnecessary work, some scoffed at what I said the problem was, but not James. He genuinely listened, asked questions and even though I did not know the lingo he knew what I was talking about. He did quote "worse case scenario" prices to me just in case and even those were quite fair. Mr. Fama came at the scheduled time and went right to work. The job was done quickly and precisely as we had discussed. It went so smooth in fact, that I asked him to fix a pipe for a sink that hadn't worked in years. He had to go to Home Depot to get the part but, he was very quick about it and had the sink fixed in a very timely manner. Mr. Fama did not waste a lot of time talking when he got here because he went straight to work, but after the job was finished we did chat a little bit. He is a quiet, very likeable and amiable man. He said that he was a small business with only one truck and that it is hard to compete with the "fleet of truck" businesses sometimes. That statement got me thinking that I was more impressed with this hard working man of his word than I could ever have been with those larger companies who in some cases seem to have forgotten the "human aspect" of the job. It is my sincere hope that the people who read this will consider giving the smaller businesses like Quality Plumbing a fighting chance. Bigger may not always be the more prudent choice. In closing I would like to add, that being a disabled, senior citizen it is so hard to find companies with integrity, as many of you may already know. Therefore; I would recommend Quality Plumbing to all Senior Citizens as well as anyone with a handicap or disability because I was treated with honesty, fairness and respect. I asked Mr. Fama to give me a big handful of his business cards to carry in my purse, so I could hand them out to everyone. This is the kind of "word of mouth" advertising that Quality Plumbing has earned and whole heartedly deserves."

"James did multiple jobs for me after diagnosing the actual problem. Correcting the issue required james to replace part of an old pipe which could only be accessed through a ceiling. James not only fixed the plumbing issue, he completed the carpentry work and repaired the ceiling. He also replaced my shower floor and the tiles surrounding it. James also replaced faucets on my utility sink. James is exceptionally knowledgeable, professional, and a master of his craft. I highly recommend hiring him for your plumbing needs and wants."

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

Hiring an emergency plumber is expensive because of the urgency and inconvenience, but there are a few things you can do to help keep costs down:

  • Minimize water damage by shutting off your water main

  • Clean up pooling water immediately to reduce damage and mold growth

  • Avoid using fixtures if you have a clog or septic system backup

  • Verify that your plumber is licensed before hiring

  • Call a few plumbers for estimates if you can afford a short delay in getting service

Once you have your garbage disposal disconnected, you can remove the mounting bracket by unscrewing the bolts that are holding the bracket. You can back them out just enough to pop off the snap ring, which prevents the bottom portion of the bracket from disconnecting from the top when you unscrew the bolts. Use a regular screwdriver to pop off the snap ring, and the rest of the components should fall off by themselves.

A good option for opening up and cleaning a sink drain is to use a ¼ cup of baking soda and 1 cup of white vinegar, along with a rubber stopper to cover the drain while those materials work their magic. After about 15 minutes, you can flush the drain with hot water. In many cases, these materials can scrub out minor clogs and get the drain working properly again. If the issue persists, call in a plumber near you to get the problem permanently fixed.

The time it takes to install a sink depends on whether you hire a professional or do it yourself, as well as the complexity of the job. A professional plumber can typically install a sink in 1 to 4 hours, with most routine jobs taking around 1 to 2 hours. However, more complicated installations will take longer. Projects that involve rerouting plumbing, installing an under-mount sink, or making countertop modifications can take a full day. Installing a sink with a prefab vanity could also stretch the project to 6 to 8 hours. If you plan to install the sink yourself, you should set aside 4 to 6 hours, though it could take longer. It's also recommended to have a friend help, especially if you are working with a heavy sink made of a material like porcelain.

If you have the patience and help to install a kitchen sink, you can do it yourself. This DIY project works best when replacing a sink that fits the existing hole, and the fittings and plumbing are in good condition. If you're worried about the plumbing's condition or aren't sure how to shut the water and power off to the garbage disposal and dishwasher, it's best left to a sink installation pro.
