"Hometown Tree Experts provided a first class service from start to finish. They removed several large trees on our properties for a great price and did an excellent job. All tree limbs, trunks, branches (etc) were dropped with precision (very talented crew). We would hire them again and we plan to provide referrals to our neighbors."

"I contacted five tree removal services for estimates. Richard's Tree Care was the only one who has yet to provide me with an estimate. I do not know what the problem is. I initially attempted to establish an appointment by using the online form on their website. After three or four days of not hearing from them, I decided to contact them by telephone. I did get hold of someone and set up an appointment. The guy came out. Took my list of what was to be done. We went around the yard discussing each tree. At the end, he said he would email me the estimate. I asked if he had my email address. He assured me that the office had it and my telephone number. I waited five days; emailed the office, and still have not heard from them. But, I had to move on. I believe that I gave them ample time to respond, but they chose not to or their communication system is not operating properly. Don't know. Don't care at this point."

"They set an appointment time and arrived on time.Estimator ,Jose, arrived and gave me a written ,formal estimate-unlike the previous tree service companies who gave me a verbal estimate .JMC gave me a removal date two from the date of the estimate. Two to three hours later,Jose calls me and says they can do the tree removal later that same day. They came at the end of the the work day, approx 4pm and proceed to remove the tree within an hour. They also transferred a bird nest to an adjacent tree. They cleaned up the debris before leaving. I would highly recommend JMC Tree Service"

"Great! Matt met me to see the trees I wanted to have removed, and I received an estimate shortly afterwards. The team took them down fast and asked if I was satisfied with the work before leaving. Very happy with the service"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

In Columbia, you’ll encounter certified arborists for tree health and disease management, tree trimming and pruning specialists, and contractors focused on hazardous tree removal. Some companies offer stump grinding and root removal, while others handle emergency storm cleanup. Utility line clearance crews are trained for work near power lines, and landscape maintenance teams often provide seasonal tree care services.

Helpful?

In Columbia, be wary of tree service providers who lack proper insurance or hesitate to show proof of licensing. Unusually low quotes can signal shortcuts in safety or disposal practices. If a company avoids providing a written scope of work or references from recent local projects, that’s a concern. Also, avoid those who skip site visits before quoting or pressure you to skip necessary permits.

Helpful?

In Columbia, most tree trimming or pruning jobs are completed within a single day, especially for smaller properties. Larger tree removals or multi-tree projects may take one to three days, depending on site access and tree size. Weather delays, HOA approvals, or waiting for utility line clearance can extend timelines, so always confirm scheduling details with your chosen tree care provider.

Helpful?

For tree care in Columbia, opt for hardwood mulch sourced locally to retain soil moisture, and use slow-release fertilizers suited to the region’s soil. Compost and perlite can improve drainage in clay-heavy areas. Protective tree wraps and galvanized stakes help young trees establish. When treating disease, select copper-based fungicides, and always ensure crews use proper safety gear for pruning and removal tasks.

Helpful?

In Columbia, hidden costs may include extra charges for hauling away large volumes of debris, special equipment for hard-to-reach trees, or fees for working near protected areas. Root removal, repairing lawn or irrigation damage, and restoring compacted soil can also add to your project. If underground utilities are discovered or access is limited, additional labor or equipment may be required.
