"Jay’s Handyman was very professional, clean, fast and the price was very reasonable. He called the same day and made an appointment for an estimate the same day I opened this project on Angi. He came to power wash my cement apron in front of my garage, front steps, sidewalk and platform the very next business day. He did such a great job I had him do my entire house, side and back siding, bricked front, garage doors, cinder blocks, back porch and driveway. If I could give him a rating of 1000 I would. No doubt I would recommend him to my entire neighborhood. That’s just what I am going to do. I got several of his business cards to give my neighbors, friends and family. Painting over polyurethane without sanding is not advisable. Sanding, followed by priming, is pivotal in ensuring proper adhesion of the new paint. Sanding creates a rough surface that allows the primer to adhere firmly, which helps paint cure correctly, providing a long-lasting and smooth finish. Neglecting thorough sanding, followed by a paint primer, could lead to the paint not adhering effectively, causing peeling or uneven application.

Stucco is an easy material to paint over, and a fresh coat of paint can give it a new life in a few simple steps. Just ensure the wall is in good condition, and clean the existing stucco before you get started—along with filling in any minor cracks or gaps. Well-maintained stucco should take in the new paint quite well.

Using different finishes within a room is the norm. For example, you might use eggshell on the walls, semi-gloss on the trim and doors, and flat on the ceiling. This creates contrast and highlights architectural details while allowing for better durability in high-touch areas. Just make sure to use a trim color that complements your walls.

Chalk paint can be applied without sanding first. Keep in mind that while there are a lot of chalk paint color options available, there aren’t as many choices as latex or oil-based paint.

You can also learn how to paint furniture without sanding using a liquid deglosser, sometimes referred to as liquid sandpaper. This can remove any old paint, gloss, or varnish, without the need to manually sand. Apply the deglosser using a cloth, then wait for the chemical to penetrate through the surface. Once it soaks through, you should be able to wipe away the residue with a towel. 

There are several pros and cons to brick houses, including the fact that painted brick requires more maintenance than bare brick. For one, you need to repaint the surface every 10 or so years. This is a costly and time-consuming process that requires sanding, scraping, washing, and a new coat of paint. You also need to touch up the paint if it chips or fades. Unpainted brick, on the other hand, may need cleaning periodically, but you won’t need to go to the same levels you would for painted brick.
