"I wanted to move my piano into climate-controlled storage while I was having new flooring installed in my home, so I found Johnson’s Piano Moving based on their excellent online reviews. Ted from Johnson’s worked with me to have my piano moved into their climate-controlled storage for a week during the installation. My house has a side entrance which made the move pretty challenging, but the excellent crews who moved the piano out and back in were very creative in accommodating the challenge with the front door and they took great care not to damage my railings on the stoop. I highly recommend Johnson’s Piano Moving!"

"Utilizing All Service Moving for the move was a very positive experience. They had good communication, answering several questions prior to the move and did a final confirmation just prior to the move date. As for the physical move itself, Jose, Abraham, and Alberto were polite, diligent, and careful moving the many items, and managed to complete the move more quickly than anticipated."

"Nationwide made my moving experience easy. This is my third time moving cross country. The other two times prior were a disaster. Nationwide Moving really came through. Handle my belongings with care. Very polite crew and stood by their estimate and did not increase my move. I highly recommend."

"FABULOUS! 2 prompt, professional movers took 2 hours with great attitudes, in 92F heat at end of day, during holiday weekend to complete a very smooth move! Furniture well wrapped. 2nd kid that I've moved with ARS in 2 months! Highly recommended but I've run out of kids to move."

"I have requested single bed room move recently. Their quoting process and presentation was impressive and Sergei was very responsive. I almost heard back within 10 minutes for any question and follow ups. On the day of move, they arrived on time and patient enough to adjust few mins of confusion about elevator reservation before starting the work. Once the elevator is locked, that cool guy gave estimation, explained clearly and started the work. Carefully moved all items to the truck and arrived on destination as planned. On the drop off location they moved everything at lightning fast but with care. So they have finished all work earlier than planned and revised the bill accordingly. All went well and they got one more happy customer. All 3 of them were highly professional. I highly recommend them for moving and make sure to discuss everything in advance to make the move transparent and easier for you and the company."

Moving questions, answered by experts

It’s typically not advisable to move heavy furniture by yourself. However, if you are confident that you can do it safely, there are several different tools you can use, including a hand truck, a four-wheel dolly, or an appliance dolly. If you’re moving furniture upstairs or downstairs, a hand truck is the most suitable choice. Regardless of what you choose to use, always ensure that the furniture is well-balanced and secure by using lifting straps or tie-down straps to keep it in place.

The best way to transport a TV is to wrap and pack it tightly in a TV moving box with plenty of padding to protect it from damage. If a box is not available, you can use moving straps and moving blankets to secure the TV in an upright position within the moving vehicle. To prevent it from shifting during transportation, place large pieces of furniture around it for stability.

Products that are hazardous, such as aerosol sprays, top the list of what to leave behind during a move. Avoid packing perishables, garden and garage chemicals, pool supplies, compressed gases, and combustible items. If you are trying to move by yourself, you may want to downsize so you have fewer belongings to pack and move (and then unpack).

Moving bulky home gym equipment without disassembling it is possible, but it can be more time-consuming, troublesome, and costly. Transporting a treadmill or rowing machine in one piece might require more labor to lift it and maneuver it out of your home, and it will take up more space in a moving truck.

Yes, movers will usually move one item like a gas grill—but your propane tank must be empty if you want them to move it. If you still have propane, you’ll need to either transport it yourself or dispose of it properly and purchase a new one after the move.
